Lyla reached Serena's door and gave a subtle knock. The door was flung open, and she was pulled inside. "Okay, give me the dets. I have to know everything," Serena hounded her.
Lyla moved to Serena's bed and sat down, "well, I sort of... I kissed him." She spat it out like it pained her to say it. Serena's eyes widened, then she ran over to Lyla and grabbed her shoulders.
"You did what!"
"I kissed him, I'm sorry, he was looking at me and my heart wouldn't stop beating and it was the heat of the moment and... and..." Lyla went down to her knees and began sobbing. In a small whisper she squeaked out, "I know I shouldn't have done it, but I couldn't help myself and now everything is ruined."
Serena bent down and kissed her on the forehead, "it's alright. As long as nothing else happened, then you can forget about it, right?" She started towards the door.
"He kissed me back," Lyla spit out, then put her head down. She was still confused about the whole ordeal, and her confusion spiraled even more as she thought about it more. She brought herself to her knees and all of the embarrassment and confusion had left her face. "Now, let's talk about this naked escapade you two just had," she said with much conviction.
"I genuinely thought you guys wouldn't be home till later! You guys were not supposed to catch us," Serena began blushing. This was the first time Jessica and Serena had actually been able to engage in sexual endeavors. She didn't want Lyla to know that though, so she lied and skipped that part of the confession.
Now that the two had hashed things out, they joined Alex downstairs. He was knees deep in a Rimtendo game and hadn't realized the girls came back down the stairs, so when they spoke up it had startled him. "It's a fun game isn't it," Jessica asked; she held the record on the game, so seeing someone else play was exciting for her.
"You guys are back. Yeah, I haven't played this game in years," which was a bit of an exaggeration, but he didn't want to come off as a nerd or underachiever. He always made sure his academic duties had been met before he had any leisure time to himself, but he always felt guilty that he spent too much time playing games. He normally avoided conversations about videogames, so nobody would assume anything.
They all took turns playing and eventually Ann and Carly had returned home. Everyone decided on making a home cook meal, so everyone pitched in, and they all ate at the table. Afterwards, everyone said their goodnights and went to bed, ready for the next day to begin.
Much to their dismay, the next day was much like the previous one - excluding all of the high points. Lyla took Alex out somewhere he had never been, and Serena stayed home with Jessica without all of the naked festivities. It was just a boring day in their minds.
The following day seemed to be better; Lyla's mom had called to make sure that she was going to make the drive home. Lyla had informed her that she would be coming alone since Serena would be staying at the condo, and of course she was upset. She left out the part about a guy staying at the condo, because it saved everyone involved. Her. Her mom. Alex. The mystery neighbor boy, whose name is actually Clark.
Lyla found out that her mom had gone next door to ask the neighbor boy his name. Her mother was many things, but a coward was not one of those things. She was also always in other people's business, as one was when they work in a flower shop.
She imagined the whole ordeal went down with her pushing her way through his front door after he answered it. Lyla convinced herself that her mother probably told him that she wouldn't leave until she knew his name, and 'that it wasn't very neighborly of him' if he hadn't. The number of scenarios racing through her mind was immense.
She told Serena who also joked about the many encounters that Clark must have undergone from Stephanie, Lyla's mom. When Alex asked about what it was that they were joking about, Serena gave him the outsiders look at how Lyla's mother was, and in turn, he was charmed by the idea of Lyla's mother.
After recounting about Stephanie, they had all decided they should spend the day together, and there was no better way to do that than go to the water park. The girls went up to their rooms to grab their things and they realized they would have to make two stops; one for Jessica and one for Alex, because they didn't have bathing suits with them.
They made the quick drive over to Jessica's and she ran up to her apartment to get her stuff. She was quite swift grabbing her things, so they had decided to stop for lunch before stopping to pick up swimming trunks for Alex. They popped in at Ann's job and had a quick bite. Ann was always pleased to see her roommates.
They made a short stop at their towns Kallmart, and Serena had decided she would go in with Alex - Lyla could take one guess at why she had chosen to do that. She wanted to talk to Alex about the kiss as well as his feelings about it. Her heart rose to her throat, and she lowered herself down in her seat.
When they got out, Jessica had put her hand on Lyla's shoulder in an effort to comfort her. It did for a moment, and she was grateful for that. "You know that Serena isn't going to say anything crazy. She loves you; she just has your best interest at heart," Jessica gushed. Lyla loved when Jessica would talk to her, because it wasn't very often, and it was always heartfelt.
Twenty minutes or so had passed when Serena and Alex came out. Lyla was relieved to see that they were laughing with each other, but still nervous over what it could be about. They reached the car, then everything went silent. No one said a word to each, but they knew someone had to break the insufferableness of the quiet car.
"Alex said he had never seen a lesbian's naked body before," she beamed, and everyone burst into laughter. Serena was not quite lesbian, because she liked boys, but she liked girls more. Alex was surprised by that fact, he explained, so they spent their time inside the store talking about that and not very much about the kiss.
The heavy, anxious weight finally lifted, that meant Lyla could breathe again, so she put everything behind her so she could enjoy her time at the water park with everyone. Serena had taken notice to her releasing her anxieties and reached forward to squeeze her shoulder. Lyla liked that Jessica and Serena were extremely alike in this way.
They rode the whole way finding fun things to talk about and telling Alex about the different rides at the waterpark. They had finished about the time they had arrived at the waterpark, so Lyla found herself a parking spot and the group headed to the entrance. They paid the ticket master and went inside to let the fun begin.
