Embracing Healing and Reunion: Judah's Journey of Self-Discovery

Judah's journey

By Evans kamau mbuguaPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Hi everyone, my name is Judah, and I live in Seoul, South Korea. When I was just four years old, I noticed something was wrong with my mom. While other kids hugged and kissed their parents, my mom seemed distant and unaffectionate. Confused, I approached her, longing for her warmth, but she pushed me away, emphasizing her disinterest. She used maids, butlers, and money to keep me at a distance throughout my life.

My cousin, Hattie, disagreed with my self-doubt and assured me that I was perfect, while my mom was the problem. Hattie's parents, even though poor and living in America, were amazing. They made efforts to visit and video call me regularly, and I cherished their love.

One day, Hattie shared exciting news with me—her dad's company had become immensely successful overnight, promising a life of wealth. Overjoyed, she planned to visit me and asked if she could stay over. However, when I approached my mom to ask for permission, I found her in the company of strange men, pushing me to date a boy who owned diamond mines. Refusing to conform, I confronted her, and she reacted with anger and embarrassment.

Unable to tolerate my mother's behavior any longer, I devised a plan to run away from home. I contacted Hattie, and fortunately, my aunt and uncle supported the idea and welcomed me with open arms. They helped me escape without any drama, freeing me from my crazy mother. The best part was that I would be living with my best friend, Hattie, and the excitement consumed me.

Reality hit me on my second night in a new country—I didn't know the language, and starting at a new school was daunting. However, Hattie assured me that she would translate everything for me and help me adjust. In her attempts to make me fit in, she tried to change my appearance by doing my hair, makeup, and even suggesting I dye my hair blonde. But I realized that escaping my mother meant being true to myself, and I decided to embrace my own identity.

To my surprise, I thrived in my new environment. On my first day at school, a boy approached me, captivated by my beauty. Hattie urged caution, reminding me not to rush into anything. We quickly became inseparable, and without her by my side, everything felt impossible. Language barriers and cultural differences were challenges I faced, but I persevered, even earning the admiration of the cheerleading squad.

At home, my aunt and uncle showered me with love and gifts, trying to make up for past injustices. However, this created tension between Hattie and me, leading to a big fight. Our relationship deteriorated, and I decided to distance myself. I immersed myself in learning English, determined to confront Hattie for her hurtful behavior.

As my language skills improved, I made new friends and gained independence. One day, Derek, the cutest guy in school, approached us at lunch. Hattie hoped he would ask her out, but to our surprise, he expressed his interest in me. Hattie's reaction was strange, and she distanced herself, refusing to sit with me or share her experiences. Feeling hurt and betrayed, I confronted her, but she insisted on having her own space.

Motivated by anger, I enrolled in online English classes and carried translation books everywhere. I was determined to learn the language and let Hattie know how much she had hurt me. My proficiency in English grew rapidly, and I made new friends along the way.

One day, Derek approached me with flowers and his friend playing the flute, expressing his interest in me. Confusion arose when Hattie revealed that she had lied about my feelings toward him. Frustrated, I impulsively confronted Derek, resulting in a suspension from school. This incident led to a major fight with Hattie, and the truth finally emerged.

My aunt disclosed the final secret—Hattie and I were non-identical twins, and they were my biological parents. Shocked and heartbroken, I packed my things and left, focusing on my studies, finding a job, and renting an apartment. I severed ties with my family, feeling betrayed.

Years passed, and despite missing Hattie during significant moments in my life, I refrained from reaching out due to guilt. However, during my honeymoon hike, I became lost in a forest during a storm. After days of isolation, Hattie miraculously found me with the help of her followers. We embraced, realizing the depth of our love for each other.

Reuniting with my biological parents, tears flowed as we laughed and cried together. The pain of the past was acknowledged, and forgiveness began to heal the wounds. Finally, my family was whole again
