According to all salvageable records the apocalypse was slow and painful rather than an explosive event. Their actual take over occurred in just one day. The alien invasion force had been making clandestine soft-landings for weeks increasing their numbers on the ground in preparation for their offensive. They had already infiltrated the offices and staffs of many of our military and political leaders before we were aware of their existence and the existential threat they posed. The most vulnerable proved to be those that worked in mass media like internet and television due to their heavy exposure to the signals. The mysterious signals of course which have been blamed for debilitating the thought processes of all humans who were exposed. Millions of people were apparently affected daily, for months on end, before the Iranian Sheikh convinced his military counterparts in their government to release the discoveries of their cyber teams to the rest of the world. A foreign signal had been detected layered in our satellite transmissions, and it was not from Earth!

The Anti-Gray Matter Virus, as its extra-terrestrial progenitors have labeled it, was broadcast across the internet, television and radio to greatly weaken Earth’s defenses and render her helpless against their planned invasion and takeover of Earth’s nuclear arsenal! The virus, once introduced, reduces humans to an almost puppet-like state and renders them extremely vulnerable to even the mildest forms of subliminal suggestion, and our invaders were as skilled at manipulation as our best surgeons are with a scalpel, They walked among us freely; affecting our systems at will!

Initially, the instability on the world stage appeared normal; we live in a dog eat dog world undeniably, but as world leaders began to turn on allies, trade between nations stopped. Food became scarce and people began to starve. Homicides and violent crimes began to rise and weapon sales skyrocketed. Borders were being over run with the belief that “the grass is always greener on the other side”, despite news reports that the Armageddon was world wide. News reporters and journalists had already been discredited in most cases anyway. But when people in general stopped showing up for work and parents stopped showing up after school to pick up their kids, heads began to turn. Air traffic soon halted, then all traffic, as the world’s oil supply ran out, and production was shut down. There were attempted coups around the world, and a battle for what precious resources remained ensued. People were truly at each others throats before the aliens decided to issue their ultimatum of death or servitude to all remaining “disloyal” humans. But despite what seemed to be a definite alien check-mate to the world we know, there was a sign of hope.

Not all humans who were exposed fell prey to the insidious music of the alien pied piper. Some of us were somehow immune to its effects and after Iran’s release of their discoveries to the world, more and more humans were being protected through seclusion from its deleterious results. “We have established two safe points of harbor, one in Alaska, and one centered at the American Embassy in the Republic of Congo in Africa. There are people of all nationalities and races taking shelter in our safe havens. We have survivors working around the clock to crack the alien viral code and devise ways to protect each other from their sinister takeover plot.

I am part of a group of survivors with immunity, I am also a member of the resistance, we call ourselves the Buffalo Soldiers and we are the attack force of Earth’s final hope known as the Patriots! If you are receiving this encrypted transmission, please know all is not lost. We are amassing an army from around the world and our day will come! Join us if you are able. The heart shaped Locket of Hope will be your guide to all allies. If you cannot fight, find us for food and shelter but please stay safe. This is Captain Dark Valor signing off until next time. Hoooahhh!”

The Captain’s retort resounded through the tent echoed by all the members of his company that could squeeze into the 12x12 communications center. Heat was scarce and the temperature had only reached -5 degrees Fahrenheit that day in Anchorage. The Buffalo Soldiers had just finished tactical training and 1st squad was about to head out on patrol, but first Captain Valour had to send out his communique, before any one was released, just in case some one nearby responded, and needed help. After the soldiers’ exclamation of support for the Captain’s words, the room fell eerily silent, except for radio noise. Several moments past and Captain Valour rose slowly from his chair, there was a short screech as the wooden chair scraped across the wooden floor. A nearby soldier grabbed the chair quickly and lifted it, preparing to sit as soon as their leader cleared the space.

“Let me know if you hear anything. Ok soldier ?” Yes sir, the soldier responded before the Captain had completed his sentence. These were very familiar words to Corporal White Bear, the Captain had uttered them daily since they acquired the radio for their forward operating base or f.o.b. As Captain Valour walked toward the door, another soldier shouted, “ make a hole”, and the Captain emerged to his company forming up to be dismissed for the day. Captain Valour smiled realizing how lucky he was to have such an able platoon Sgt. By his side. “0’dark 30, am,” he said with a smile. “Good work people, now fallout!”

No sooner than the words were spoken the soldiers were gone. They deserved to rest and had to rest when they could. An encrypted message for help could come in at any time. “What’s for dinner?”, asked the Sgt., just making conversation as they walked towards their individual tents. “The same as always”, replied the Captain; “Fish stew, yummy!” The Captain usually wore a smile and appeared pleasant. But those who knew him, knew he was disappointed whenever they didn’t find any survivors for an extended period of time. “It’s hard out there.” The two men were always honest with each other. “It’s getting colder everyday too.” The Captain said, “We’ll have better luck tomorrow, I am sure of it.” Consolation was all he could offer Captain Valour. “Good night, Sir.” The Sargent said, as his boot heels snapped together as he came to attention; while rendering a salute by nodding his head. “Good night Sargent, rest well”; and they retired for the night.

After about 4 1/2 hours there was a buzzer ringing at the bedsides of both Captain Valour and his Troop Sargent, SFC Ortiz. That was a relatively long rest and both men were ready-to-go; meeting at the com center within seconds of one another. “What’s up?, Corporal White Bear”, asked Captain Valour. “Encrypted message from Fort Richardson Sir, it reads, report back to base immediately for briefing. There has been a break through!”

Within two and 1/2 hours, the Buffalo Soldiers had traveled 50 miles in the arctic tundra to Fort Richardson for an emergency briefing. What was left of Russian intelligence reported locating a descendant of the World War II heroes, the Navajo Indians also know as the Wind Talkers. The powers that be believed they could not only help encrypt our messages, but also crack the code the aliens were using, allowing us to interrupt their use of our satellites. Unfortunately, they were well hidden after the war; And the one located by the GRU had just been captured on his way to Fort Richardson.

“Next Mission

-Code Name-

Free The WindTalker

The world caught a beak with the aliens planning. By creating such chaos before their invasion, they had also brought together the world’s most elite war-fighters. 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta or Delta Force and U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group aka DEVGRU or Seal Team 6! They were conducting joint training exercises in preparation for a possible U.S. offensive against Russia. American Intel was convinced the Russians were the source of the signals, before we knew better. The Buffalo Soldiers, a company comprised of both forces; Delta and Seals was created to make sure the Russian GRU never performed another operation. Now the GRU, one of the world’s best spy teams, and an unspoken but mortal enemy of America was guiding Captain Valour and the Buffalo Soldiers on their next mission.

Captain Valour couldn’t help but fell a little sick, trying to trust men he would be trying to kill under any other circumstances and he was sure the feeling was mutual from the Russian side. “The enemy of my enemy can be a useful asset.” The Captain said to SFC Ortiz. “Yeah, but can we trust them ?”, asked the Sargent. “Trust, but verify.” The Captain said in a sarcastic voice but the Sargent knew he was serious.

Of course, Delta Force had the latest innovations in combat equipment and Captain Valor had chosen Armored Personnel Carriers or APC ‘s for their mission. M113’s were equipped with a 50 cal mg., anti-aircraft sams, and could swim. They came equipped with snow tracks so transportation was not an issue; nor were they worried about running into any defectors, as they were calling their adversaries. They were ready for a fight, and with the Seals on board, they felt unstoppable.

STAY TUNED

The Buffalo Soldiers traversed the mountainous, glacial region from Alaska to Russia in ‘stealth mode’ avoiding any contact with sentry outposts thru the guidance of the GRU. The more Captain Valour learned of the mission, the more he trusted his Russian counterparts. They had provided actionable Intel up to this point, and it was intuitive that they wanted our antagonists gone too.

As Delta Force opened fire with the 50 cal machine guns on the Defector outpost that was holding the Windtalker, the Seals were preparing to extract back to the M113 they had used to flank the enemy encampment and perform the hostage recovery they were famous for. Moments before the attack started the Seals had infiltrated the outpost silently using night-vision and suppressed weapons and had just signaled Delta Force to begin the diversion for their escape. It was flawless! All troops returned +1 Wind talker. The unit was now speeding to a secure airbase back in Alaska to get their POI or person of interest to Africa!

The best available minds had already been assembled and the Windtalker was the icing on the cake. With his help our code became uncrackable, and we began to communicate better and more often. Leading to more precise missions and soon we were able to commandeer a few of our own satellites, recovering many humans in the process. The alien hold was weakening and our numbers were growing, as well as our expertise as we concentrated on recovering POI’s.

Momentum was now clearly on our side and the highly cerebral monsters chose a strategic tactical withdrawal, in other words, they ran as fast as they could to get off of our planet; but this war was not over yet. It has long been said that a dog is man’s best friend, and most dogs will display a predatory instinct to chase an enemy it has just quarreled with, and so did we!
