Donkey in Lion Skin

Pretending power can't hide the truth

By Rohitha LankaPublished 9 months ago 1 min read

There was a foolish donkey that found the lion skin, which a hunter had left behind.

The donkey, out of ambition, put on himself the lion skin.

Then he walked around the field so as to scare the other animals and make them afraid of him.

Seeing the shadow and terrifying figure of the ''lion'', all the animals fled in different directions in fear.

This encouraged the donkey even more, and it laughed, standing there proudly over the deception plan's success.

But then … as he was laughing in satisfaction, that sound was actually the donkey's cry.

All the animals that heard it stopped scurrying and turned to look.

When they found out that the real person was the ''donkey in lion skin'', they outran him away and laughed him instead.

This story teaches us that:

''You can pretend to be anyone you want to be, but your voice never lies.''

Or

''Put on a lion's skin does not make you a king.
