Does Curiosity Really Kill the Cat?
When You Need To Know
On this day, feeling tired after my shift at my job, and dealing with the two hours of traffic, wanting to get home was the only thing I could think about. While my music and my sunroof did help to take my mind off the fact that Cali drivers are some of the rudest, unforgiving drivers on the planet, I simply could not get home fast enough, and for some strange reason, I felt that something laid waiting for me that I was not yet prepared for, and the fact that I have to take 5 freeways to and from work just added to my frustration.
Finally!! I made it home, kicking off my shoes, rushing to my room and putting my things on the bed anticipating and wanting so bad to take a shower or a very long soak in the tub to relax me, and thinking about that bottle of wine I have the my fridge, I went to my kitchen to pour me a glass, just the way I like it, on ice.
As I was drinking it, something caught my eye, a suspicious package wrapped in brown paper sitting on my footstool in my living room, thinking to myself, "Where did this come from?" as I wasn't expecting any deliveries today nor had I even placed any orders recently, as you can imagine as to how surprised I was to say the least, seeing it just sitting there kind of looking at me. What was really odd, is that it didn't have any labels on it, or a label slip with my name on it so now I thinking, does this even belong to me? if so, who sent it to me and, why didn't they put my name and address on it.. Now I'm trying to once again calm my nerves for a whole different reason, trying to understand what it is I'm looking at me here.
By this time, I had finished my glass of wine, and after staring at the box for a few minutes while checking my vision because by now the wine was starting to kick in, I slowly put my ear to the box, (I guess I've seen too many movies) but anyway, trying not shake it, I picked it up and placed it on my kitchen table saying " Should I open it or not" and being that I am the one who is always curious about the unknown, it didn't take me long to decide what to do, let my claim to being nosey kick in and just open it, but I knew it didn't belong to me, and not only that, someone was missing their package that by the way and could have medication, or even money in it, I mean this is during Covid 19, so people are ordering online just to be safe, but didn't have a name on it or an address so technically that makes it mine right? I thought so, and with that being said, yep you guessed it , I opened it, and the box was empty, can you believe it? first I was surprised, then was a little mad because the box didn't have anything in it, then stopped, looked around, everything was in order, nothing was out of place and that's when I started shaking in fear, even checked my doors and windows, but why?, I live on the second floor, but what really had me scratching my head, is the fact that I live alone, and nobody else has access to my place, so how did the package get into my apartment in the first place? That was even more shocking than finding the package
