Doctor Dream

A New Hero Arises

By Atomic HistorianPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

Hello. Some know me as Dr. Seth Rhys, archaeologist. I thought that’s all I would ever be. It was all I had hoped for. I was doing what I love, working with the love of my life, and spending every day with friends. That was, until two years ago when it came to me. The best and worst thing to happen to my life: The Amulet.

We found it deep in the Amazon. Thinking it was nothing more than just another artifact, we brushed it off and put it in the box. The Witotoan warned us against touching or taking it with us. Just more superstition we told ourselves. Oh, but how we were wrong.

It all began a week after we returned home. I had been feeling extra tired the last few days. It wasn’t until that Saturday that I noticed Victoria sleeping on the couch. She told me my night terrors had returned, and were worse than ever. I would violently throw my arms swinging and screaming in my sleep. But just as she began to tell me about the strange things I had been saying, he appeared.

Unamami, the Watcher. One of the celestials that watched over the multiverse. He explained that I was not having night terrors. No, The Amulet had transformed me into a being of great power. The power to travel between universes, transform my body, and wield any power my imagination could dream of. The last of the maroon Somnus Stones chose me to be its Mage. Now, I am sworn to battle the Orange Order across universes, and the dream world. To defend the innocent, and keep the balance between the waking world and other worlds.

It is I, Doctor Dream, that stands as the last bastion between order and chaos.
