Sisi is known for her wisdom. She is not just the embodiment of a mother; but a woman who understands people; their patterns, fears, and wishes. Some may call it intuition, others call it insight, but Sisi was aware of her gift. It was a divine ability to see what others failed to notice, a skill in matchmaking.
She will never joke with emotions, and neither would she force relationships. But she knows when two feelings were meant to align. She has seen too many people waste time endlessly, believing love would just ensue. She knows better. Love requires belief, but also positioning.
Valen, however, was exhausted.
At the age of twenty-nine years old, she has grown tired of senseless conversations and dead-end relationships. She has tried all—dating apps, blind dates, church socials—yet nothing got to the distance. The men she had met were either not ready, emotionally unavailable, or simply not positioned with her values.
On the evening, during their prearranged meeting by Valen’s aunt, Sisi poured tea with a steady hand, looking calm yet curious. As looked up, she realized the distress in Valen’s eyes, as if she had misgivings in such sessions leading anywhere. "Valen, love is not just about being composed; rather it is about being in the right place at the right time," she said calmly.
Valen sighed, stirring her tea inattentively. "Sisi, I’ve done all I can. I’ve read all the relevant books, attended meaningful relationship seminars, and even fasted and prayed. What more can I do?"
Sisi smiled consciously. "It’s not about doing anything extra—it’s about being alternative. You don’t pursue love, but you should make yourself noticeable to the right one."
Valen slanted her head. "Noticeable? What do you mean by that?"
"There’s a business community event next weekend. A man I deeply esteem will be there. He’s not just any man—he’s steady, driven, and most earnestly, he appreciates a woman who carries herself with intent. If you want to meet a man or woman of purpose, you have to be where people of purpose and drive gather.”
Valen paused. “A networking event? That is unromantic.” Sisi giggled. “Because love is not about appeal alone. It’s about positioning. He’s not scanning for a girlfriend, Valen—he’s looking for a soul mate. Make yourself visible.”
Something about Sisi’s words agitated Valen’s spirit. She had exhausted so much of her time and energy waiting for love that she never thought about situating herself for it.
On the night of the program, Valen decked with simplicity and grace. Not flamboyant, not frantic—just confident and poised. She was not there to impress or dazzle anyone; she was only there to delve into her purpose.
Upon entering the venue, she did not engage in an anxious scanning of the room. Rather, it was all about engagement in meaningful conversations, sharing her thoughts and insights, and carrying herself with elegance.
That was when Jimmy noticed her.
In his daily engagements, he has seen many women—some anxious to be noticed, others indifferent—but there was something unique about Valen. She was at hand but not itching, elegant but not remote. She gave off quiet confidence, and that fascinated him.
At the start, their conversation was casual and informal—business, life, collective ideals. But as the night gained ground, something profound and intense kindled between them. She was not just another virtuous face in the crowd; she was someone he needed to know.
Days revolved into weeks, and their exchanges deepened. Valen never had to coerce his attention—he shadowed her because he saw her caliber. And when the right came, Jimmy did not blink.
The weeks revolved into months and as Valen sat across from Sisi for their follow-up meeting, she smiled. “You were right.”
Sisi sipped her tea, her eyes sparkling. “I knew it right from the onset, my dear. Love is not just about fluke—it’s about wisdom, knowledge, fix-up, timing, divine matchmaking, and the resolution to be in the right place when God opens the way.”
This is because divine matchmaking is not about analysis and searching—it’s about being and becoming the kind of person, the right one is seeking.
