Disease
Just a concept based around the idea that certain emotions can cause serious health issues. TW: heavy religious themes, and mentions of discrimination.
At first, you thought it was the zombie apocalypse. People began rotting; their skin beginning to fall off and rot, also, the smell of these people was terrible. Some were alive with maggots feeding on their flesh. Their teeth began falling out, and some had hunger for the rotting flesh of others like them. It's disturbing to watch. However, there are different kinds, because the disease effects people differently. All have one thing in common; their brain is the first thing to rot, or seems to be the part of the body where the disease begins, and spreads.
For some, the disease begins in the brain and spreads from there to the hands and legs. For others, it begins in the brain and spreads to the mouth and ears. In a way, it's almost as though people are possessed. I've seen some of the infected crying as they involuntarily bite into someone else with the disease. Funnily enough, life hasn't really changed that much. For those of who aren't infected, they continue their lives as normal. It's sad to watch those with this disease involuntarily kill each other by gnawing their arms off, or wither away at home or in hospitals as others try to discover a cure.
It's funny, really. Watching as they try to find a cure that doesn't exist. I know there isn't one, because I'm the one who created the disease. Some say that God is cruel, and to be honest, I am, but only if you think about from a specific perspective. You see, I created humanity, and to keep the population in check, certain things have to be put in place; such as illness. What better way to punish those who are cancerous to society, than to have their nastiness become a cancer that lives inside them? I am not a cruel god, I’m just doing as I see fit. I sent my only child to spread kindness, and when he said “Be nice to each other”, he was persecuted and crucified. This is retaliation, but I fear it is far too little too late. You can pray, but you can’t pray away idiocy, or stupidity, or misery, or narcissism. Unfortunately, for those who pray because a family member is passing away, or suddenly becomes stricken with this disease, I’m not listening.
Many who become I’ll, if any at all, don’t get well. They die eventually, and brutally; for they are brutal and disgusting. Those who blame others for this disease, such as those who believe that the minorities (of any kind, be it the lgbtq or people of color), are killed off by rotting of the mouth and brain; or cannibalism from another infected person or persons. No one is to blame but them. I can see that you’re confused as to why I’m not infected by my own disease, I’m getting to that, my child.
I created this world, and all that inhabit it. Unfortuanately, with each person who succumbs to this disease, a part of me withers away and is reborn in some fashion. I am an immortal jellyfish, continuously regenerating over and over again, recycling myself. For every person that perishes as a result of their malice, either in thought or action, a child is brought into this world. Hate is taught, not born.
You see, children are all inherently innocent from the moment they draw their first breath and open their eyes. I love all my children equally, but there are some who must be killed off. Hence, the cancer that I have created. There is nothing more painful that watching hate spill itself into the ears and mind of a child. For those who are taught from an early age that those who are different in pigment are evil, or that those who follow a different religion are Satan’s spawn, or that those who love fearlessly and beautifully are sick and need mental help, are all condemned to suffer as their parents suffer.
Yes, even children are falling prey to this scourge, but only because they are born into the disease. I created all in innocence, yet humanity has a way of corrupting everything it touches. Only humans are capable of torturing each other; of inflicting so much pain and damage upon one another and the environment. In addition to every person who does falling ill, and a child taking their place, another new life begins. Another planet is created, a new star begins its life, a tree takes root, a flower blooms; the world goes on without them and is better for it. I’m sorry if you don’t see it my way, but this is how things are. You either learn to love one another despite all the differences in the world, or, you lose your mind, your body, and ultimately your life because of the misery and hate you breed. Learn to love, to teach love and kindness, to accept the differences around you, and maybe, just maybe, no one will perish from the plague known as hate ever again.
