Discovery: Planet 5795S
‘There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. I told you they only appeared after we landed on that planet.’ That young man you see sitting there in the center of this tribunal court room is the sole survivor of the United Systems Army vessel The Atlanta. 57 days ago, The Atlanta was forced to take an alternate route back to earth which took it through a small uncharted system just past Alpha Centauri. This is the report given by the sole survivor First officer Demond Wingfield, Second in command to Captain Chanee’ Sanders.

We received a distress signal from a mining ship that landed on Planet 5795S in an unknown and uncharted system, the mining ship classified ‘ The Big Digger ‘ was a MARS colony ship on return to Mars port when they detected a massive hyper Ion crystal deposit on 5795S. On orders to redirect from course and mine this site, the Big Digger touched down on the surface a mile and half from the Valley were the crystal deposit was located. The Big Digger’s survey team was deployed to locate the deposit while the mining crew readied their equipment and gear. The planet was leaking oxygen from beneath the surface creating pockets of breathable atmosphere all over the surface in distant places. The Valley being one of those places. 7 hours after landing the mining crew is now on site in the Valley and have began work on mining the hyper ion crystals, some of which were 20 to 30ft long. This is by far the largest natural hyper ion crystal deposit ever discovered so far so the implications for such a site need not be stated. While the mining crew was exploring the lower section of this massive crystal cave the found something unbelievable. In the bottom of the crystal cave was a section of hollowed out cave floor with what looked to be some kind of enormous metal box… The mining crew scanners couldn’t determine what the box was made of and kept giving an unknown error reading when the box was scanned. They discovered a small vestige of an alien civilization, a civilization that had been long dead or gone.
The mining crew was ordered to clear out and The Atlanta was contacted for a possible first contact situation. But by the time my ship arrived to 5795S the mining crew had been off the comm for nearly 9 hours. One of the survey teams’ men touched the box and somehow activated a genetic arc weapon… when it was touched the box began to sequence the creature inside, it used the water stored in the bottom of the room coupled with the DNA sample stored in the box to rapidly stimulate the creature’s growth. Two hours after the box was activated a 9-foot-tall wingless dragon emerged from the bottom of the cave and began to lay waste to everyone in sight. The dragon consumed most of the mining crew and trapped the rest of them on the survey teams’ shuttle. Sadly… the shuttle wasn’t strong enough to keep the alien dragon out and they too were dispatched by the dragon. We learned this because they were able to send out a last message before the hull of the shuttle gave way to the dragon’s onslaught. But what we didn’t know is that the creature had begun to multiply, on arrival The Atlanta detected 61 life signs… none of them were human.
The Atlanta dropped into the atmosphere two miles east of the crystal cave and at the 4 o’clock position from the Big Digger’s last know location. The Atlanta’s scanners detected no signs of power, but was able to locate the Big Diggers wreckage via line of sight, and the entire ship was destroyed. It physically looks like it had been ripped to pieces. The bridge registered incoming movement from the ground and scrambled raptors to protect the ship. The Atlanta’s ground forces never made it off the ship before it was attacked. The small dragons began leaping from the ground and attaching themselves to the Atlanta’s hull. The raptor pilots gave their lives protecting the ship, but the dragons had breached the hull and the battle had spilled to the interior of the ship. I was ordered to aid in ship wide evacuations and to aid in battle where ever I could. As I made my way to the lower deck to aid in drop ship loads I saw something out the main deck window on the port side a massive winged dragon with glowing purple and blue bio-luminescent lights up its body and tail rise from the cave. The dragon began torching the Raptors as they turned their fire on it to try and drive it away from the Atlanta, but to no avail. They were brought down by the beast as it set its sights directly on the Atlanta. I ran towards the loading bay screaming at the crewmen to abandon ship but it was too late, The dragon slammed into the port side of the Atlanta and tore out a section that spanned 5 decks up and then it began to blow blue and purple flames into the ship. I tried my best to get the crew out of there but the fire came rushing in and I was knocked into a drop pod… bleeding from my head and losing consciousness the last thing I remember was Captain Sanders emerging from the fire and pushing the release button on the pod I had fallen into. The Pod closed and sealed me in just before a massive flash wall of flame slammed into my pod hanger incinerating the captain as she pushed the eject button and saved my life. I floated there in orbit until I was picked up by The Obsidian and her crew. Captain Jackson was in the infirmary when I woke up and informed me that there were no more survivors and The Atlanta had been lost.
In conclusion of this report I highly recommend that Planet 5795S be labeled uninhabitable and extremely dangerous. I don’t know if that thing was put there as a trap or if our mining crew stumbled onto some kind of prison for that thing, but that valley definitely belongs to the creature.
Final log report.
