"Did you ask the doctor about your monkeyitis?" I replied for the fifth or twenty-fifth time, No, we didn't talk about you, it was my appointment.

It isn't a bother most of the time. And I do get a chuckle and that may be what makes it continue.

One day I said, I wish to talk about monkeyitis if you will listen. Then I proceeded to talk about monkeyitis as a condition and the symptoms of monkeyitis.

You call most of our grandchildren monkey. They don't seem to mind as they will call you monkey right back. As baby's you will call an older sibling or cousin a monkey and get the baby to laughing and pointing and agreeing on the monkey.

Some time later you will call the baby a monkey and they then will also say Grandpa's the monkey. After many years now, everyone knows grandpa is the monkey. Your sister and nieces call you monkey too.

Then you make up songs to sing about monkey's climbing trees and going to the river to get some bananas and other fun little ditty's that you add to a grandchild's name.

You have acronyms, like YAM, meaning you are a monkey! You will give a bunch of banana's for birthdays, Halloween, and at other times.

All of this makes you sir the monkey, with monkeyitis. Will it stop? No as this is part of who you are!
