Did she betray me?
Bloodletter’s Scourge: I am Bexley
I’m hanging on a damn thread, writing this in my head but scribbling in my blood. I may be dead soon. India is trying so hard to help me. The other ‘Letters are confused she’s not trying to kill me first.
“You had humans and didn’t kill them?” One angrily signed to India.
Poor little India looked like a cinnamon stick compared to them!
She hurriedly signed, “She’s my friend. Humans don’t really want to kill us. And actually, you saw some zombies coming after us before, but that’s not how normal zombies behave… I have zombie friends and a human partner….”
One of them slapped India to the ground. “A human companion? That’s blasphemous.”
I was chained up in a cave, bones broken and bleeding but I still couldn’t hide my anger. “Get the hell away from her! She’s not an enemy!” I yelled. Of course, they ignore me.
India gets up in a dizzy state. “Please just let her go,” India signs, pleading with them.
I feel like I’m losing a lot of blood as my body goes slack against the wall of the cave. It feels so damn hot and humid in here. Need fresh air.
Need sunshine. No, need my darling Clara back. My sweet zombie girlfriend. I miss her so much.
I’m thinking to before India and I got kidnapped by these Bloodletters. Suddenly, as I recall the underground bunker in Branson, Missouri where all my friends and family were at, I feel something against my skin that feels very slippery from my blood loss. The chains on my hands are slipping away! Am I free?
India and the other Bloodletters are arguing over her not being so-called kosher by hanging around humans and zombies without killing them. God damn, I can’t leave without India. Emma would kill me.
I think my hands are small enough to slip out…
And oh, my heart hurts thinking of that moment Hudson had to say goodbye to his ailing mother. Hudson kept going on and on about seeing his mother before we got to South Dakota. Asher is in a coma, the poor thing. Is Asher a Bloodletter too? I believe he is. Hudson had to give Asher’s parents the bad news that their son is in a coma. It was such a trying day before we all left. I think bloodleters and zombfeees are both very different but they both respond well to healing gems.
Ah, fuck. I can’t even walllk. My brain isn’t werking right and I feel like I’m gonna die. I got out of the chains but I can’t move far.
One minute I’m with my girlfriend Clara, Bexley, everyone I love and care about. Those hunter zombies kidnapped us, now these Bloodletters.
I run out of cave.
Time slips and pulls away from me. India looks at me as I come too.
“Let’s get her!” A Bloodletter signs as I open my eyes weakly.
India nods. “Pick her up.”
Did she betray me?

Great installment, Melissa!
Oh wow, I thought Asher was a zombie! He's a bloodletter now?! Also, that ending, why is India suddenly on the bloodletters side? Omgggg, so suspenseful!
Nice work. Question what was the trigger for this story? You peaked my interests. :)
