Departed
He fell as he ran...
Blood leaked over her fingers.
"Don't go, Sam. Don't leave me!"
His kind blue eyes, light already fading, locked onto her.
He tried to smile. Touched her face.
She stayed there, crouched over his cooling body. Time passed out of knowing.
Finally, his dying plea to keep moving ringing in her ears like that final, fatal gunshot, she stood.
Taking his coat, she closed his empty eyes and turned her back. Sobs wracked her as she walked away. Just away. Away from the past, from him, from the echoing shouts. Tears streamed down her cheeks, carving through his blood.

Wow Alex, your descriptive language is great in this one! I love the vivid imagery and the way you played with the readers emotions! This could be such a great origin story to a vigilante or some even just a "regular" main character!
Oh wow this really painted a picture. I have so many questions I imagine a dystopian world in which they were running from what Idk but I’d love to know more of this story.
I felt this! Write a longer one pleeeeease! 😁
