This place that is now a desolate wasteland was once my home. This place, so riddled with grief, anger and death was once rich with compassion and peace... and hope. When I look at the grey skys, smell the mixture of dead bodies that are piled in the streets and demolished building I can’t help but weep about how it never had to be this way.
The meeting was held on the outskirts of the city in the late hours of the night. All of them were there that served on the kings council. The reason they were all gathered was simply this. The kingdoms government were comprised of the king, and his council men & women who oversaw and managed the education, treasury, environment and criminal justice (among many other areas) in the kingdom. They did the ‘peasant’ that someone with the stature of a King wouldn’t be caught dead handling. Because of this, and possibly a deadly dose of jealousy, greed and lust for power, they resented the king and felt that their contribution to society was what brought about its prosperity. Because of this, the king’s council had been plotted against him that they might control the entire kingdom and mold it to their specifics. They had made three attempts on the kings life in the last 2 years, untraceable acts to keep their own noses clean, carried out by outside parties. All three attempts had failed because of the kings daughter. No one knew this except for the king and his council, but his daughter was born only a few short months before the Queen died of illness, the young princess’s only memory of her mother was a heart shaped locket that she had owned as a young woman. The princess was given life and strength by any vile or evil deeds against the kingdom, that she might use it to protect the kingdom. Because of this she was able to stop the attempts on kings life every time.
this meeting was not called to to discuss their vile schemes against the king, this meeting was ajured to discuss the removal of the daughter.
No one will ever know what happened in that meeting. But in the months following the councilmen and women worked tirelessly along side the king to eradicate all crime and evil. They succeeded and created a utopia. But as the kingdom flourished, the kings daughter became aggressively sick and weak. No physicians could cure her or even understand the source of her symptoms. On the night of the one year anniversary of a crime free land, an assailant had snuck into the princess’s chambers and slit her throat.
What’s sad is that the party responsible didn’t even give time for the kingdom to comemerate the death of the princess with a funeral. The council men and women quickly formed their own political faction and used it to overthrow and kill the king and took over the land and carried their darkest fantasies of power and bloodlust. The prosperous and beautiful kingdom that was once teaming life and harmony became a place worse than hell itself. An unbearable bleakness fell over the land and repressed any sense of pure goodness. The problem was that the new leaders started to believe that rules created peace, so as crime grew the rules multiplied until they ceased to make sense.
But... what the dictators or the victims of the Godforsaken land did not know was that as their deeds of the rulers grew in evil and treachery, the deceased and discarded corps of the Princess began to rejuvenate supernatural to point of total resurrection! Stronger than ever before, and with her new found strength she defeated all forms of evenly who oppressed the kingdom until all were free. Soon the world was once again at peace. Harmonious, beautiful and everlasting... or so everyone thought.
The Princess had been able to free the kingdom in a very short time. The people were especially grateful to her and were glad to hail her as ruler, being the last heir to the throne and the Princess was glad to accept. Unfortunately the Princess so caught up in the excitement and relief of freeing her people completely forgot of the side effects of a true utopia. It wasn’t long before her aggressive and haunting symptoms returned. Immediately the fear of death became a captivating reality for the princess. Perhaps mortality would’ve been preferable if it meant that death was merely a passing trial. Perhaps what scared her most was that there was absolutely no guarantee that evil would arise again to give the princess new life and purpose.
The immature immaturity and inappropriately decided that action was hers to take and out of fear struck blood against her own people, committing this crime against the kingdom only gave bodily strength, but her will and conviction grew weaker as her fears caused her to lay waste to the entire kingdom. At first she tried to rationalize by executing convicted criminals, but once those ran scarce she moved onto every man, woman and child that she once called subject, ally and even friend.
Ther was a tangible sense of darkness and rage in the winds, it was ominous and inescapable. Screams could be heard for miles all around the kingdom, the princess originally used her guard to round her victims but she soon killed them too out of haste for strength. It wasn’t long before everyone last drop of blood was spilled, and every scream was let out. Bodies lay everywhere, it was almost impossible to see the ground. The princess feared death so much that she didn’t have time to look back and feel remorse. The kingdom was indescribable, it looked like as if every bad thing ever had been dumped in one spot. As the princess, who stood at the front door to what was once her castle once again became sick and weak. Falling to her knees as she coughed and sputtered blood, she still didn’t feel satisfied with the taste of life. Her self absorbed ambitions kept her conscious above the waves of regret for what she had done. With her heaving coughing and deep breaths grasping at life, she collected herself and went onward to find anything that would fuel her body to live, there was no going back now, if she stopped now there would be absolutely no going back. Her selfish desire for life gave her a selfish instinct for survival. If the now deceased king and his council saw their kingdom and what it became, I wonder what their reaction would be. Perhaps if they could see ahead into the future they would put aside their wicked ways and work together. But selfishness only breeds selfishness.
