I hate the news.

Tate got up off her couch and walked into the kitchen. Usually she would just pour herself a glass of wine and curl up with a good book, but she hadn't done that in the past couple months. She did, however, pour herself a shot of tequila and take it to the head.

Not even a shudder.

She looked over her right shoulder, her dog and cat asleep together in their bed. She leaned down and gave pets to both of them before going to her room.

15 murders. 22 days. How interesting.

Tate went to her room and sat down at her computer. She looked out of the window into the city. She kept thinking about the news and the murders. She didn't want to keep thinking about that so she pulled out her phone to call her boyfriend. But she remembered she was mad at him, so she called her work boyfriend, Danny.

The phone started ringing in her ear but also in her room. She turned around faster than she could think and started looking around.

"Danny?"

She got up and followed the ringing to her bed. His phone was there, covered in blood.

She started to panic and went back into the kitchen. Her animals were gone. It was all silence in the apartment, except for the ringing. She crept into her living room and there he was, sitting on her couch facing the TV. It was muted and turned to the news. Same story.

"You know... you should lock your doors" a voice stated in the shadows. It was a woman's voice.

When she stepped forward, she had a butcher knife in her hand that was covered in blood,

"There's a murderer on the loose honey."

The lights started to flicker as she motioned for Tate to come to the couch. Tate was so scared and nervous she couldn't even bring herself to scream. She slowly made her way to the couch.

She spotted her dog on the loveseat. She was still alive and eating a treat. The cat was on the back of the loveseat playing with a feather.

"I don't kill animals."

The mystery woman motioned towards the couch where Danny was sitting. Tate sat next to him and tried to see if he was okay but the pool of blood he was sitting in answered her question.

"You have been a naughty girl. A boyfriend who loves you, yet you and Mr. Danny here insist on sleeping together in the office. Didn't take me long to find you."

"Who the hell are you?!" Tate stood up screaming, scaring off her pets. She looked over at Danny's dead body and began tearing up.

"Valeria Grey. My friends call me Secret. Well, if they were alive they would." she answered.

Her face was covered in a soft white face paint. She looked as if she had watched too much of the Joker. Her lips were painted a bright red. Her hair was red and blue and she had the prettiest and creepiest smile.

She walked over to and stood face to face with Tate, their eyes meeting. Her smile never faded but Tate was terrified.

"The murders were you."

Secret nodded as she walked towards the TV. She waved her hand and the TV flickered.

Powers?

"You know the thing about sending people to their demise is that you get to show off a little before you do it. So the last thing you ever see is the fact that powers are real" she explained as she started pulling the shadows forward making the rest of the apartment disappear in complete darkness.

Umbrakinesis!

Tate stood there terrified as the darkness slithered over Danny. It was just her and Secret standing in the dark.

"Please do-"

Tate suddenly stopped when she felt a tingle in her throat. She tried to swallow and felt a lump in her throat. When she looked down, her shirt was covered in blood and the handle of Secret's butcher knife was sticking out in front of her.

"16 and 17" Secret smiled as she snatched the knife back and cleaned it off on Danny's pants.

As Tate fell to the couch dying, she heard Secret whistle and her pets followed her out of the apartment.

As Tate's eyes glazed over, Secret closed the door with a smile.

"Goodnight!" she said through the door as she turned the lock.

This story is truly captivating. It makes me think about how every aspect of our living spaces can contribute to a better quality of life. Just like a well-told story has different elements that come together harmoniously, a home needs the right components too. For example, the doors we choose play a crucial role. Have you considered WPC doors? You can find amazing WPC doors at https://www.zonledoors.com/wpc.html. These doors are not only stylish and durable but also offer great functionality. They can enhance the overall look and feel of your home while providing excellent insulation and security. It's like adding a perfect chapter to the story of your home.

Wow, this took a dark and unexpected turn! I didn’t see the twist coming with Secret’s powers. The way she played with Tate’s emotions before the kill was so chilling. The ending left me speechless!
