Day of the Dog
I am Eren, the Dachshund Shape Demon God Of The Apocalypse. I’m comfortable navigating around several different time zones and parallel universes. I am not the only demon god from the underworld but I have certain powers that make me unique, I have nuclear poop that may appear anytime or anywhere in random dimensions and I have a heart shaped silver locket on my collar with my name on it. I’m especially proud of the locket. I instructed the fiery hellhounds of Hell to keep the temperature below 900 °C during my visits, that is well below the melting point of silver but it’s hot enough to make my locket glow in a bright orange colour and it would remain nice and warm long after my visit too. I do appreciate such qualities of the precious metal, and I know that other dogs envy me for it.
Today I’ll have an appearance on the desolate Earth that is left behind by humans and other animals. The glow of my locket from Hell is helpful here as the atmosphere is mostly dark, almost pitch black, which is the colour of my fur. The Acid Spitting Ferret God invited me here to watch solar eclipse and sniff some dust, so it’s guaranteed to be a great day. My large telescopic ears - that once inspired my mom to name me Eren - are capable of catching sound from the past, present or future of any location so if you’re wondering if I hear voices in my head, I can assure you, I do. My favourite noises on Earth are the humans talking in various languages – that is from the past as they are all gone now, ocean waves crashing, wood burning – this is different from the self induced fire we have in Hell, birds singing, wolves howling and cats purring.
In the present there are strange echoes of the sound of slowly collapsing buildings, there’s also some waves of water and burning of wood sometimes. My friend, the Acid Spitting Ferret God especially enjoys spending time here, hunting the exotic scents of the planet by sniffing all around as it has a really sensitive pointy nose. Our conversation is mostly an exchange of these scents and sounds and it never gets old. Being in a dead world enjoying reflections from the past and future is like being in a dream, sometimes I get so carried away that my paws start to move as if I was running and I make noises unconsciously as if I was trying to communicate with the ghosts of other worlds, although I do not need sleep.
Tomorrow I will visit the past to watch over thousands of years of history but today I’m still here, I’m still now at the same time I’m yesterday and I’m tomorrow. It is hard for the limited human brain to grasp the thinking of a multidimensional being, I know that much. Once the limit of the brain is lifted things start to make sense , the trivial fears of everyday life subside with this understanding, only to give place for deeper, more concerning fears of the known and the unknown. The circles and spirals of the universe conspire to keep the flow of matter and information in a digestible order, helping us all. Death and life often happen at the same time in different dimensions and that is the most normal thing. There is no dead planet without a planet alive, and there is an infinite amount of those planets always forever..
Acid Spitting Ferret God is super proud of it’s sensitive nose and flexible spine for a reason. I like the way it moves, great friend to hang out with, it’s favourite place is dead Earth lately as it really enjoys getting involved in politics, listening to human music and sniffing for food.. also a great swimmer.
AS. Ferret often organises planetary eclipses on the desolate Earth by curling up into a ball and projecting it’s shadowy self onto the smoky grey sky. Today it’s a partial solar eclipse, beautifully covering the central core of the star only leaving the bright solar rim visible in a perfect circle. What a great god Ferret is.
