You know, I decided to try online dating. Because nothing says romance like swiping right on a guy who looks like he’s auditioning for a role in a zombie movie.

First date? Always an adventure. The moment you meet, you realize, “Wow, I’ve seen more expressive faces on emoji keyboards.” Sometimes I wonder if these guys even know how to smile. Like, are they practicing their ‘resting face’ or is that just their default setting?

And the first conversation? Oh, it’s a lot of, “Hey, how’s your day?” followed by a delightful silence that feels like a game of verbal hide-and-seek.

Then there’s the profile pictures. There’s always that one guy who insists on showing off his pet iguana or his collection of vintage action figures. I mean, I get it,you're interesting. But I’m not trying to date a guy who’s more excited about his comic book collection than about me.

I once matched with a guy who said he loved adventure and travel. So I thought, “Great, he sounds exciting.” Turns out, his idea of an adventure was ordering pizza from a new place. That’s not an adventure, that’s a quest for the perfect pepperoni!

And the date itself? Oh, it’s always a surprise. Sometimes it’s great—he’s charming, funny, and doesn’t spend the whole time checking his phone. Other times, it’s like a live episode of ‘What Not to Do on a Date.’ Like that guy who kept telling me about his ex—and I’m sitting there thinking, “Wow, is this a date or a therapy session?”

But the best part? When you finally meet someone who’s actually normal—so you think. Then they start talking about their “passion” for collecting rare toenail clippings or something equally bizarre.

Honestly, dating from an app is like shopping at a thrift store. You never know what weird treasure you're gonna find, but hey, sometimes you get lucky and find a gem, or at least a funny story to tell your friends.

So, here’s to all the brave souls out there swiping right, may your dates be less “zombie apocalypse” and more “romantic comedy.”
