Darl Gainsberry looked at his heart-shaped locket, kissed it, clinched it, said a silent prayer to be reunited to his fiancé, and tucked it back under his shirt. If he want to get back home he will have to help the Peet people rid of the savage tribe and their evil wards who threaten the Peet’s very existence. The answer for him to go home and to defeat Peet’s enemies are the power crystals found deep in the planet. These crystals can be crafted into anything imaginable and provide power to accomplish much.

A million years ago before the Peet came into existence, a blue star bombarded the planet with very high frequency of radiation. The resonance spurred growth of crystals in the soil, on rocks, in trees, and in the atmosphere in the form of ultra-light vapors. Then the star shrunk to a dwarf and creates a wormhole. A human like race called the Peet used the crystals for light, healing, construction of architecture, armor, weapons and even machines. The rains was sweet and knowledge flourished.

Sky scrapers, flying machines, and cool holographic entertainment, what’s not to love? The Peet slender and athletic bodies were the ideal humanoid race for science and physical abilities. They dream to reach the stars and travel to a far-away planet called Earth.

A prophetic seer foretold a period of darkness and a starman champion. Another seer a crystal researcher of the name Abner was looking into ways to bend the high crystals power so it may be absorbed into a person’s body thus giving that person incredible power.

Darl at one month ago…

The NASA ship Nexus is the first ship to be launched from the moon. The hundred-meter skinny ship resembles a large needle with two donut rings one at the front and the other at the rear. The bridge is coned-shaped and resides inside the fore ring. The after ring completely hides the thrusters. “Darl!”, shouted Captain Rogers. Darl was calibrating the ship navigation computers with his tablet when he heard the captain. He turned around in the air and said, “It’s done Captain all the calibration of navigation and string resonance fore and after toruses are in sync.” “Good job Darl!”, exclaimed the captain.

The seven-man crew seated for the launch with Darl at the middle of the ship monitoring the two toruses. The rail launcher powered by the sun is fully charged and in mere seconds the Nexus was shot like an arrow. After several hours Darl spoke into his headset to the bridge. “The toruses resonance are forming a solid envelope and it’s safe to fire the ion drivers.” A partially crackled voice spoke back. “Roger, preparing initiate ionic boost, ionic boost initiated, firing ion boosters, boosters are fired.”

The Nexus sped up even faster speeds. In a month time the ship reached Mars but its mission isn’t Mars but a wormhole that opened hundred thousand miles past the red planet.

Present moment…

Peet commander Ashra stood tall in her bright red dress. Her long straight hair hangs to the back. She walked tall with her chin up. “Darl, is the defense parameters up?”, asked Ashra. Darl gave a deep bow and said, “Commander Ashra all is in place, the crystal barriers will protect our camp.” Darl clinched his locket as he scans the horizon and as far as he can see lies ruins of what was a major metropolitan city. A steady breeze carries the stench of death from the valley below up to the hill he was standing. The odor was light because of the distance but still very sickening. Darl race through the camps ensuring the crystal swords is finished.

There are five camps based on occupation skill the medical, law and order, business and commerce, blue collar and trades, and military. Commander Ashra and her senate resides in one compound. Every camp has their own Seer and they consult with the government. Darl can see them walking to the compound wearing their robs with camp color bands on their sleeves and hood. A couple of them nodded at his direction. He remembers when he first arrived and they all called him the prophetic hero, Star Man.

The crash…

“Captain Rogers the toruses are resonating at full strength and the string envelope is holding”, said Darl in his headset. “Excellent work Mr. Gainsberry!”, replied the headset. An energy string wrapped around the entire center of the ship and resonates equally from both top and bottom right and left halves creating a perfect bubble. ”Bridge, reduce thrusters to minimal for we’re approaching the wormhole. We want the wormhole to pull us through without rushing it”, said Darl. “Reducing thrusters to minimum”, said the pilot.

The Nexus went through nice and slow like a thread approaching the eye of a needle and then the pull happen. Streaks of light of every hue can be seen going into a long dark tunnel. The Nexus looked as if it was stretched a thousand times its length and a FLASH of white light the craft was gone. In exactly sixty seconds the entire crew exclaimed in awe, all shouting different things. Hey look at that! Look at the streaming lights! Hey I can see stars ahead! And together, IT’S A NEW GALAXY!

But then a fast-moving meteor charged with negative energy come towards them, narrowly missed the ship and into the wormhole, and…The wormhole became unstable and instantly collapse. The meteor was instantly destroyed its atoms are scattered in various galaxies. The sudden collapse of the wormhole closed around the engines like a razor-sharp wired noose and sever the engine off like a guillotine chopped off the head. Without engines the ship couldn’t clow itself down and without engines the ship can’t steer. A big greenish blue planet grows nearer and nearer. “BRACE FOR IMPACK!”, shouted the captain. Darl instinctively dove into a holding compartment and secured himself with the cargo straps. This is the strongest part of the ship, he thought while hoping for the best. He pulled out a heart-shaped locket from under his shirt, quickly opened it and take a look of the tiny picture with his fiancé in his arms, closed it and marveled its design. It’s funny to him that it takes a tragedy for him to take notice of the small things. The pink metal heart-shaped locket had silver relief etchings of rose stems, leaves and roses. So beautiful so…

When Darl finally awoke, he found himself in a hospital bed with a stiff back. He also realizes he is wearing a soft cotton robes and he’s barefoot. What the heck is going on and where am I, he thought. Darl walked around his small room and saw the reed flooring and walls, thatched roof and a beaded door. A rather tall and slender woman walked in wearing a blue smock and matching loose fitted pants and she too was barefoot. She had to be about six feet four. She tried to greet him but her strange language sounded a little like a cross between Gallic and Greek. He studied both in college but none of her words ring a bell. She has to be the nurse so in his mind he refers her as a nurse, and he can’t believe he’s actually on an alien planet and he’s the alien. Darl took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

The nurse lady showed him his wounds with a mirror and showed him digital photos of the healing progress with clear and white rounded discs were placed on his third degree burns and each photo showed healing. With her one hand she held a translucent tablet device and the other hand she showed one finger, then two fingers, and finally three fingers as she showed three photos with the third photo showing a complete healing of his back. The scar tissue just grew without skin grafts. Is she is trying to tell me it took three months to heal? The nurse lady spoke a word and point and she did it over and over again pointing to herself and the objects in the room and finally she showed him the entire hospital. He gets that her name is Shila and this simple structure is indeed a hospital for she showed him the other patients, doctors and other nurses.

The next day he saw the entire camp which is made of five sections and each sections have a banner with a color and stripes. Five older men came to greet him. These men are taller than Shila and stood about seven feet. These men appear to be in their sixties. They all wore plain blue robes except for the color bands on their sleeves and along the brim of their hoods. Each man had a different color bands which corresponds to the banner’s stripes. They spend days with him teaching him their language, culture and societal structure.

Darl accepted his role in helping the Peet people and the seers told him their people will help rebuild his ship and build a crystal warp drive engine once the savage tribe and Abner is defeated. Darl walked to the crash site and wept over his buried crew. He then went inside and ordered several laborers to find and strip resonators, energy field transmitters, ion diffusers, nuclear power cells, and strip away several sections of the haul.

It will take a month to build several power forges and crystal-based blast furnaces to build powerful weapons and defense barriers. The Peet people showed him the power crystals that has the elements of fire, wind, earth and water. These prime power crystals are among the most powerful except for the dark matter black crystals which Abner was able to create by bending the primes. Darl used all of his mechanical and electrical engineer expertise to channel and harness the prime power crystals along with smaller mobile sized nuclear cells to supercharge the swords with antimatter. A forcefield generator must also be made to deflect Abner’s dark matter attacks.

Working with crystals especially the powerful ones emit a pulse signature that a simple radio device can pick up and that means the camp will soon be discovered. Darl worked frantically with Peet’s scientists in the construction of the forcefield generators and parameter pylons.

Back to the present…

Darl climbed on top of a wooden platform to stand along side of Commander Ashra. All remaining one thousand Peet people gathered. It was a sad sight to Darl and he sniffled to fight back tears, cleared his throat and spoke loudly. “Great Peet People! I come from the planet called Earth which is the very planet you wanted to visit until a mad man named Abner committed genocide all for his thirst for power to become a god. I’m here with you MY LIFE IS YOUR LIFE, and We Shall Beat and Kill Every Last Member Of The Dark Savage Tribe! Together we will restore life! Together we will restore peace! Together we will avenge our society and our planet!” After he said all that the crowd erupt into a frenzy roar and chants were made “Hail Commander Ashra!” “Hail Darl!” and “Praise it to the glory of our God Mahkai!”

Abner walked tall and proud. His skin is black with glittering specks of crystals covering every square inch of his body. He shape shifted into a raven and flew out to his fallen army. He then flew towards Darl and transformed back. “ I challenge you Darl to a duel!”, snarled Abner. The battle was intense with Abner slashing at Darl with his claws trying to pierce his skin just once. Darl lunged, slid under him and turned to stab him in the side. The antimatter went into Abner like searing lava. Darl ran away knowing he used all of the antimatter. Abner exploded like a bomb and the force knocked him out. Darl woke up and saw the nurse.
