Dark Vessel

I have been taken on a ship

By Amber ZajecPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

I am dragged onto the dark ship with no fear stirring in my belly. I know I should fear this vessel and be terrified of the big black sails and the smell of tar and stardust dominating it. The Dark NebulaI is a ship feared by all but not by me. No, I am taken away by the beauty of it. The fact that something so evil is so beautiful. The dark black wood with strands of silver blood flows through its dark helm, making the ship come alive with mysterious dark power. The sails are covered with immense feathers that shine in the moonlight. The feathers are in many shades of black, yet all equal to their darkness. However, the crew did not match the beauty of the ship. They look as if they have crawled out of the cave they have been trapped in for centuries. With thick layers of dirt that crumbled off them as they walked, their clothes torn and their faces distorted. The only neat thing they have on them is their swords that glisten in the moonlight. I make it to the deck, and above me stands a dark figure. I don't even have to guess who it is. It's the captain.

The captain glides towards me. This captain is someone to be feared by how the crew acts; as the captain draws closer, the crew circles me like sharks waiting to eat. The captain was now in eyesight. Their big dark captain's hat covers half their face; they take their hat off and looks directly at me. She is the one in charge of this dark vessel. She is the scariest yet most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She is dressed in dark leather that outlines her fit figure. A leather jacket coated with the same dark feathers on the ship. Tar black leather boots with silver chains that hit the ground with every step she takes.

The sound alone makes me shake. As she walks towards me, the crew shakes as they bow their heads, the fear of this woman is shared among the room. Everyone is shaking. She steps closer, walking around me like I am a slave about to be wiped out for bad behavior. As she came closer, my heartbeat accelerated like a racehorse running down the last of the track. However, I can not run, and my feet are cemented down, preventing my entire body from moving. Only my eyes follow her. The dark figure circles me, surrounds me, waiting for me to crack. But I am too fearful that if I crack, I will die here on the ship surrounded by my enemies. People that kill for a living and feel no remorse. She stops and stares directly at me. Her skin is of the moon, her hair dark and knotted, and her eyes pools of midnight blue. Her eyes hold the secrets of the ship, the adventures she’s been on. They don’t look evil; they look as if she wants to escape from these shackles she wears, but I know no matter how much she wants to escape, she has a duty, and she must kill me. I had stolen something from her, but when I did it, I didn't know that it belonged to Fer Malum Pirates. A crew so feared among these waters that not even the whales crossed their ship.

I look into her eyes and see deeply hidden pain and want for freedom. She has been looking for freedom for a long time, and I know this is all in my head because I hear the crack of a whip rather than a sharp pain in the back of my knees. My knees hit the deck first, then the rest of my body goes down. I am looking down at the floor as someone grabs the back of my head and pulls me up to my feet. I don’t see who it is, but they drag my body away from the deck, through a door, and down the stairs. The farther down I go, the more I realize the dark black night that runs along the veins of the ship and that the dark black eyes staring down at me will become my forever future.

I will be trapped here forever, just like the Captain.
