Dark Forest
A Mystery Novel About a Missing Girl and a Haunted Woods
Dark Forest
By MJ
Chapter One
Lily had everything a girl could ever want. She was beautiful, with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She was smart, with straight A's and a scholarship to a prestigious college. She was kind, with a lot of friends who loved her. She was fun, with a sense of humor and a taste for adventure. She had a loving family, who supported her in everything she did. She had a handsome boyfriend, who adored her and treated her like a princess.
But she also had a secret.
A secret that only she and her best friend, Mia, knew.
A secret that led her to the dark forest.
The dark forest was a place that everyone avoided. It was a place of mystery and danger. It was a place where strange things happened. It was a place where people went missing.
No one knew exactly what was in the forest, but there were many rumors and legends. Some said it was haunted by the ghosts of those who died there. Some said it was infested by witches, monsters, and demons. Some said it was cursed by an ancient evil that lurked in the shadows.
Lily and Mia had always been fascinated by the dark forest. They had heard stories about it since they were little. Stories that scared them and thrilled them at the same time.
They had always wanted to explore the dark forest, but they never dared to do it. Until one day, they decided to take a risk.
It was a Friday afternoon, after school. Lily and Mia were bored and restless. They wanted to do something exciting and different. They wanted to have an adventure.
They decided to go to the dark forest.
They packed their backpacks with flashlights, snacks, water, and a camera. They told their parents that they were going to the mall. They lied.
They took their bikes and rode to the edge of town, where the dark forest began. They left their bikes behind a tree and entered the forest.
They felt a rush of adrenaline and fear as they stepped into the shadows. They felt like they were entering another world.
The forest was dark and silent, except for the occasional rustle of leaves or snap of twigs. The trees were tall and twisted, blocking out most of the light from the sky. The air was cold and damp, smelling of dirt and decay.
Lily and Mia walked deeper and deeper into the forest, following a narrow path that seemed to lead nowhere. They saw strange shapes and colors in the trees. They heard weird noises and whispers in the air. They felt eyes watching them from the dark.
They were scared, but they were also curious.
They wanted to see what was hidden in the forest.
They wanted to discover its secrets.
They wanted to find out if the stories were true.
They didn't know that they were making a terrible mistake.
They didn't know that they were walking into a trap.
They didn't know that someone was waiting for them in the forest.
Someone who knew their secret.
Someone who wanted to hurt them.
Someone who wanted to kill them.
Chapter Two
Mia woke up with a start.
She opened her eyes and saw nothing but darkness.
She felt cold and wet.
She smelled dirt and blood.
She heard nothing but silence.
She realized that she was lying on the ground, in the middle of the forest.
She realized that she had no idea where she was or how she got there.
She realized that she was alone.
She panicked and screamed for help.
But no one answered her.
She tried to get up, but she couldn't move. She felt a sharp pain in her head. She touched her forehead and felt something sticky. She brought her hand to her face and saw blood on her fingers.
She remembered what happened before she blacked out.
She remembered walking with Lily in the forest, laughing and talking about their plans for the weekend. She remembered seeing a bright light in the distance, like a fire or a lantern. She remembered feeling curious and wanting to check it out. She remembered telling Lily to follow her as she ran towards the light.
She remembered reaching the source of the light and seeing a small cabin in a clearing. She remembered seeing smoke coming out of the chimney and hearing music playing inside. She remembered thinking that someone lived there and wondering who it was. She remembered knocking on the door and waiting for an answer.
She remembered hearing footsteps inside and seeing the door open slowly. She remembered seeing a man standing in front of her, holding a shotgun in his hands. He was old, wrinkled, dirty, angry. His eyes were cold, dark, hateful. His voice was low, raspy, menacing.
He said one word:
"Run."
Then he shot her in the head.
