Is There Really Life In Space?

Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say

.I always wondered what was out there, or whether there was anything out there at all. I always looked up at the sky at night with wonder, particularly when I was out for a late-night run.

Tonight was a clear starry night.

The perfect night for running.

It was midnight, though this time at night was always the best time for runs. The sky velvety-midnight sky was clear, and shining with millions of stars.

It was perfect in every way.

I changed into my tracksuit and running shoes and headed out of the door into the cool, fresh breeze. I loved feeling the cool midnight breeze caress my skin, it made my run more beautiful.

After an hour and a half of running, I stopped in a field for a drink. I sat down on the cool, fresh grass and started drinking from my water bottle. I was exhausted from my run, so I unrolled my blanket which I always carried with me, and laid down on my back so that I could observe the stars on this beautiful clear night. I watched several shooting stars speed across the sky, and I observed the satellites.

Do satellites really sleep?

I thought to myself.

I had heard they do, but I often wondered if anything out there other than life on Earth actually did sleep.

If there was any life out there at all?

I had always wondered about this, ever since I was a child. We had learned about other planets and galaxies at school, and there was always speculation about whether life existed on other planets.

Even NASA themselves were curious. They had found water on Mars, but never living beings.

As I watched the stars twinkle, my curiosity became stronger. The sky always appeared quiet but it was pretty obvious something was going on up there, as the stars always seemed to move, and every time I looked there were new shapes forming in the sky. I was about to explore my thoughts about this a little deeper when suddenly...

I heard a scream.

Or was it a scream?

It sounded like a distant shrill, and the noise was like the screeching of voices that were frozen like ice.

It was certainly something I had never heard before, but where was it coming from?

It definitely didn't sound like it was coming from the field.

It didn't seem to be coming from anywhere in the vicinity of Earth at all.

It sounded more like it was coming from the skies above, but like it was miles above the sky and thousands of miles away.

I suddenly heard a voice calling me.

"Caira this is your call. This is your destiny. Join us. We need your help in order to save our home."

I looked around me to see if I could see anyone, but there was nobody there.

Maybe it is just my imagination. Running can do that sometimes when it leaves you exhausted.

I listened again.

Nothing.

Maybe they were waiting for my reply.

I decided not to reply straight away. I didn't want to look stupid by talking to somebody or something that wasn't there in case somebody walked past me.

But...

There it was again

"Caira, please help us."

Whoever or whatever it was calling me sounded extremely distressed.

"Where are you? Who are you?" I asked.

For a few brief moments, there was silence followed by another scream that sounded like an alien seen in a movie having a temper fit.

I didn't know what to think.

Do I record the sounds? Maybe take them to NASA?

These were my first thoughts. However, as I couldn't see anything or anyone, or even locate the sound; I thought that NASA might think that I was crazy.

I thought about taking it to the news. In order to do that, I needed to record the sounds so I took out my iPhone and hit the record button. I waited and waited. There was nothing for about twenty minutes, and I was about to give up when I heard the screams and cries again. I attempted to record it. However, when I played it back, I was puzzled, as there was no sound there.

"How am I supposed to help you if I can't hear you or see you?" I called back, but all I got back was another scream.

Everything suddenly became silent. I decided to wait for another hour just in case there were any other sounds, but there was nothing so I started the run back home.

Once I got home, I made a Juice and thought about tonight's events. I knew that nobody would believe me if I told them what I had heard, so this had to stay top secret.

This didn't mean that I couldn't start my own investigation. It would be an exciting investigation to embark on. Besides no one needed to know until I had solid proof.

The question remained,

How was I going to get that proof? I was the only one in that field tonight, and I was the only one who heard the sounds.

I eventually made my mind up to start my own mission and try to get the proof anyway, though I had a lot to think about.

Although I had always wondered what was out there, I had no idea what equipment I was going to need. My iPhone didn't pick up the sounds and I had no idea why.

My first conclusion was that the sounds were coming from a supernatural force which would explain why my iPhone didn't pick up the sounds. There are tales of supernatural ongoings in the sky.

But,

This was different. Usually, a shadow or a mist follows the supernatural sound, and they normally get closer or show some signs of presence. Whatever is out there, sounded far away, way above the clouds and the direction of the sound sounded like it was coming from millions of light years away.

I decided that I needed a telescope.

Maybe if I went to a specialist, they might provide me with one that can see closely into the deepness of space, and that might cast a vision of the life-force out there.

I had another problem.

I needed something stronger in order to pick up sound. I had no idea what I could use, so I decided research was important.

Though it would have to be quiet research conducted by myself, because nobody believes in alien life. NASA talk about it all the time, but they might think I'm crazy if I ask them for help.

I drew a conclusion

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore what was out there. I had always wondered if there was other life in space, and if I could prove it once and for all; I'd be the first person in the world to discover it!

They say when opportunity knocks on our door, there is a reason. Maybe this is my destiny calling me. Maybe that destiny is to change the future by bringing other life-forms that we may not know about into existence.

This could change the world, and the future is in my hands and my hands alone...

To be continued.

Hey, Carol, I join you in trying to find those aliens. I think you may need a spaceship though, unless the aliens came and picked you up. Just an idea. Keep those ideas coming.
