Couple Goals
Flip the script: There is always a positive in a negative.
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. It was close to minus five degrees and the thought of being packed inside a toasty sardine can in fifteen minutes, excited me. We had to leave earlier than usual due to the threat of another sweep of snowstorms blowing through. Once we inside, I'm making a date with my pillow. Can't imagine what my partner feels like, hunched over the wheel, deprived of caffeine, even though his last drop was just a shy of ten minutes ago.
"We're finally here," he said, as he parked the car up in the carport, that had been cleared for us.
"The owner put the fire on before they left, about twenty minutes ago," I said, giddily.
"Hot chocolate, marshmellows and cuddles, babe?" Nickolaj said, turning the car off.
The car cooled down fairly quickly and that was the motivation we needed to unload the car and get inside.
Inside was exactly how it was sold on the advertisement. Authentic and warm. The interior gave the foresty feel with fitted out timber walls, floors and a carpeted bedroom area. In the far right corner, there was a small room, I believe was the bathroom. The kitchen was in the far left, with the fire down the left side, greeted you at the front door. I spied the bed on the far right behind a small couch and that was where I was headed. I hope Nickolaj had the same idea because it had been weeks where we had alone time. There was always a "third wheel" hovering around in the background.
We moved everything inside and stood next to the couch discussing our next moves.
"I'm goin to lie down because I'm shattered," I said, suggestively.
He smiled, moved his hands to his hips. I could see his V-shape outline through his clothes and it made me hot and heavy. Nickolaj was very athletic, worked out when he could. While his body was fit, so was his thinking, which who couldn't ask for more? Fit body and fit brain.
I pulled my sweatshirt off and body-slammed the bed. The soft crisp white duvet felt amazing under my tired body. I slipped under the sheets and wait, did that feel like Egyptian cotton?
"Babe," I called out, pulling the duvet over me. "I'm not leaving this bed today."
"That's cool," he said, stacking our bags neatly in the corner. "Would you like a hot drink, though or are you going to make a date with pillow?"
"Can I make a date with you instead?"
Nick turned around and gave me a cute grin. "Oh really?"
"Yeah, can you check your planner please?"
We often play this game but lately, his planner has been fully booked. Life, I guess.
Nickolaj pulled out an imaginary planner and pretended to flick through the pages, occasionally licking his finger. "I should be free in five minutes?"
"Can I book that then please?" I said, with a toothy grin.
He nodded, pretended to take the ball pen nestled from behind his ear and writing in his planner. He can be so damn cute some time.
Within that five minutes, it felt like hours. I missed spending time with my Nickolaj. He was busying in the kitchen, making that promised hot chocolate. He always stuck to his word. In the corner of my eye, stomping through the snow, I could see someone in heavy wet weather gears. It was a male, from what I could see. He looked angry.
Who was he? I wonder. I mean, we are out in the wops, as to why anyone would be out here just chillin - scuse, the pun, beats me. We only found this shindig on Uncle Google so we didn't properly do our homework. Maybe we should have. Maybe I'm over exerting my brain and looking too deep into somethin that doesn't exist.
"Babe," I called out just as he made his way over holding the two cups. "There's some whack job out there. What if he's a weirdo?"
"Where?" he asked, putting my cup on the bedside cabinet. He looked out the window to see the same dude I saw, kicking snow around.
"He's probably living his inner child like you do when you're belting out Britney Spears in your curtain dress."
I went bright red. He turned to look at my reaction. He chuckled. "Aww cute, you went bright red." He kissed me on the cheek.
"Shall we close the curtains?"
"If he's into voyeurism," Nick started then looked at my gross reaction and ended flicking the curtains close.
Nickolaj eventually got into bed next to me and just being able to feel him close to me, smell his scent, and him squishing me to death, feels so peaceful. Haven't had this human connection in so long. The soft touch of his lips kissing my weak spot on my neck, with the added pleasure of his stubble, made me shrivel up. His soft finger tips gently stroking my shoulders as he caressed my neck. The mood was intimate and needed.
"Have you missed this like I have?" he whispered in my ear.
I nodded slightly.
"We needed this break!"
"We did indeed, babe," Nickolaj whispered again. "I love you."
"I love you too," I breathed.
You know when the mood is so fiery with pleasure that if anything off-putting can flick the switch off, instantly? Well, that jjst happened. As we were enjoying each other's company, a lone wolf knocked on the window and we both looked up. Staring through a small crack of the curtain was the whackjob from previously, big smile on his face, eyes rolled back slightly. Was he doing what I think he was doing?
"Ew, what the?" Nick said, pushing past me, opening up the curtains visciously. The window popped open with one push, almost knocking the voyeurist out in the process. "The hell are you doin?"
"You were putting on a good show," he said, stumbling trying to pull his pants up.
"You got three seconds to pull those up and piss off," he threatened. Nick stood there on guard, watching the stunned pervert trying to pull his pants up and bring his heartbeat back to normal. At shy of three seconds, the man managed to belt up and stumble away from the cabin. Nick pulled the window in shut and pulled the netting curtain close, evenly on both sides.
"Babe, you okay?"
"I'm fine," I sighed, rolling over on my side to face Nickolaj. "We can't even get peace in a cabin without some jerk thinking its fine to perve on us."
"We will get time, babe," Nickolaj said. I love his positivity.
----
The afternoon had been a peaceful one. No more voyeurists. Nickolaj was reading a much-needed novel he had been planning to read again. He studied it in high school. It was Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, he said we are practically living the contents of that book, currently. Our society's dirty laundry stored away in the closet, has got so much, the door has given way and all those contents, are becoming obvious to the naked eye. He looked cute, sitting there, reading his novel, engrossed in it.
Meanwhile, I was on the bed, jotting down thoughts and my journey so far, up in the woods during our getaway. Who on earth actually wants to be a pervert? If we had reception, we would have informed the owner of this cabin but we couldn't, which means no service to look up the area we are in. I'm usually onto it when this kind of thing happens but I was so off my game and thinking of the much-needed time with Nickolaj, the homework went out the window.
I s'pose, you live and learn, right?
My understanding in life is we should never force nature. If its meant to happen, it will happen. I know Nickolaj and I are a tight unit. We have our own lives and we respect each other. When the time is right, we will meet in the middle somehow and have that quality time that we desire. Maybe tonight we can chill with each other? Sometimes stupid things like that pervert needs to happen, to put things into perspective. We should be just blessed that we both got time off work together, be able to escape from reality, and be alive and free.
That itself, are couple goals.
