Clock Taught the Value of Time

4 Most Valuable Messages from Clock

By SharaPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

It's a cozy afternoon in Darjeeling. The weather is breezy today and Andy is enjoying a hot cup of coffee sitting nearby the window. Suddenly, he heard a “Dong” sound and looked back at the wall clock. “Oh, it's 5 PM. Archie will be here anytime,” he said to himself.

Within a moment, he heard a knock at the main door.

“Hey, how’s life, Andy?” Archie asked with a bright smile. Andy hugged him and both went inside.

“It's been 5 years. How've you been alone in America, huh?” Andy mocked.

“I was not alone.”

“Then? You made new friends there?”

“Not a lot, but one. I had never realised the value of time until I spent some moments with him.”

“What's his name? Tell me. “

“Mr. Clock”, Archie replied sarcastically.

They both laughed so hard that their jaws started hurting.

Archie continued, “Yeah, man. It was all Mr. Clock, and I shared a constant friendship there. It had given some priceless lessons that helped me survive there. Wanna hear?”

“Of course.”

#1 Wait for the Right Time

“Remember what time you blow the candles on your birthdays?

It's 12.00 PM, neither 11.30 AM nor 12.30 PM.

Likewise, there is the right time and purpose for everything that arrives in our life. It's just a matter of patience.”

“Very sensible talk, Archie! So, did you follow it?”

Archie nodded, “Yes, but the reason I believe it is the 2nd lesson.”“Really? What is it?”

#2 Never Wait for the 11th Hour

“We all had an experience of submitting the assignment at 11.59 PM, right?

Andy Agreed.

"The anxiety level of the last few minutes is always breathtaking.

To avoid such situations in life, the clock reminds me to start as early as possible to complete them smoothly.”

Archie continued, "Now, I try to start any of my projects early with ample time in hand. It helps me end task productively and avoid last-minute adversaries."

Andy was surprised listening to those and asked, "Are there more, Archie?"

Archie replied, "Yes, there are. The following are more interesting. Hear me out."

#3 Live in the Moment

"You know what? After leaving Darjeeling, I was constantly missing you all. As a result, I couldn't concentrate on studies and almost flunk a semester."

"Then one fine day, looking at Mr. Clock with a cup of coffee, I realized how he always moves clockwise and never looks back. He lives in the moment, right? Then why can't I?"

"Since then, I served my purpose of moving out and my performances started slowly improving."

Andy nodded, "Oh, I see. You had discipline there, dude."

Archie said, "Yeah, pretty much." Then he approached the last lesson he got from Mr. Clock.

#4 Recharge When Needed

During these 5 years, Mr. Clock needed to rejuvenate whenever his battery went off.

"We expect ourselves to work continuously without breaks, keeping our productivity intact. But think, while a machine can't work without breaks or burning outs, how can we expect ourselves to do so?"

"Mr. Clock always tells me to take adequate breaks when needed and rejuvenate again."

"Well, these are all the lessons Mr. Clock gave me. Ha Ha, Archie laughed."

Andy asked, "Hey, what did you do when you felt homesick?"

Archie smiled and said, "I used to call up home. And most of time I hanged out with friends and met new people there. That's how I got to know their culture and lifestyle. It helped me socialize more."

“Whoa, now I know the secret behind your outstanding results at school”, Andy exclaimed. Oh Archie, I have a project submission tomorrow. Please help me complete it.”

“Okay, let's go,” Archie said.

They started working on Andy’s project and submitted it timely. That day Andy realized the value of time.
