Clara spent every day gazing at the llama plush in the shop’s window. Silver sparkles nestled on its soft fuchsia fur, a blue ribbon resting on its right ear, and round black eyes shining under the lights. It had been imported from Japan.

Clara’s jaw dropped every time she saw the price tag: £31.99. She put £5 out of her pocket money every week to get the llama.

“You’re so beautiful,” Clara said. “I’ll call you Rosie.”

Seven weeks later, she had the money. She rushed to the shop only to find that Rosie had just been purchased…by her mother.
