City Lights to Steaming Cups: Finding My Cup of Joy in a New Land
My Unexpected Journey
Hong Kong was a beautiful melody for the eyes, ears, and other senses.
The sound of the mahjong tiles being hit by the window from the neighbor's house was the same as the honking of the taxis on the roads. The smells of the wok-fried noodles and the fish markets together with the city's constant noise permeated through the air creating a special atmosphere. The neon signs illuminated the night sky like a fascinating eruption of dazzling colors, which reflected the frenzied energy that was spreading through the concrete jungle.
This oversaturated sensation, this chaotic harmony was the soothing lullaby that put me to sleep every night.
Life, similar to the skyline that keeps on changing with the advent of new architectural marvels like skyscrapers, can be unpredictable. The sudden opportunity, a kind of fortune I wouldn't have dared to dream of, came to me in a way I wouldn't have thought even to dream of it. I had to leave the all-known noisy mess, the Cantonese greetings that used to be part of the everyday look around the Cantonese district and Cantonese corners.
I said a sigh and a tearful goodbye, and then I stood on the giant metal bird, which was about to take off, and the skyscrapers and the colorful lights became invisible to me.
My destination? It is a place where the colors are everywhere and thus, the exotic birds have the most beautiful plumage that is vibrant and the colonial buildings are the happiest.
The air vibrates with a different rhythm - the pulsating salsa beats from the lively cafes, the infectious laughter of children playing in the vibrant plazas. Nature too is reigning, with lush rainforests whispering in a thousand shades the secrets in their green and snow-capped peaks scraping the sky.
Hence, where is my destination? Who would not guess, dear reader? Imagine the aroma of a steaming cup but, not tea; imagine the music that gets you dancing, not just singing along; imagine the lush greenery that extends as far as the eye can see, not the high-rise buildings of glass and steel.
Please share with me in the comments below what you feel about it. This is only the beginning of my most unpredictable adventure, and I cannot wait to share the next part of my journey to this sun-drenched, fascinating land.
Thanks for your reading!
