I should answer her but the fact of what I've just had to do is sinking in. I get up with a groan. Dave is still out for the count and there's no blood. I must have hit him in just the right place to knock him out but he won't stay like that forever. What has your life come to when you're tying the hands of the person you love behind his back to stop him from hurting you or another?

I never thought, never for a minute that he was this thing. Our married life has been without event - some might even say pedestrian, boring. We've lived comfortably, raised our daughter and I thought that we were content.

But I suppose the truth of it is that you never really know someone.

Never.

It's weird, isn't it, the pointers that the universe sends you? If you believe in that sort of thing. Karma and all that. Dave said I'm not really a deep thinker and he's right. I take my life at face value. I like routine and knowing where I am. It's not that I'm scared or anything. It's just that I know what I like and there's comfort in that. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I think most people are the same.

He also says I get off track easily. So let's get back on it. I've been watching a lot of crime shows, probably because there's not a lot else on TV at the moment. Reality TV is nonsense and the soaps just seem to get more and more ridiculous, although some news stories seem like they're made up they're so horrific but in my current situation, I'd argue the point.

Anyway, I watched a programme where a woman with an abusive husband managed to knock him out so she tried to escape, but he gained consciousness before she could and killed her. I thought, She should have tied him up.

Never thought I'd have to follow my own advice.

Isn't it funny where life takes you? Hell anyone? Ha!

I'm glad I wore my belted coat.

And now, I'm wondering:

Who is she?

A line in this piece really struck me, "Dave said I'm not really a deep thinker and he's right." I'm going to have to mull it over more but there's something very relatable about it and Christine's ownership of the characterization. Another great installment, Rachel!

  • Well done Christine!👍🏼the poor darling!

  • I gotta agree with Christine, reality TV is nonsense in it's purest form. Now, let's see how she reacts when she finds out who Bethan is

You do a great job throwing curve balls in this story. I hope they tie the knots tight.

Love the follow up. You’re teasing us, and as a reader, I like it. As a curious person I need to know more. Well done again.

You got a big surprise coming, Christine.

  • I so want him to wake up and see the two of them staring down at him. Realise he's busted. Then he can die or whatever

Oh no...what did Christine do? Has Dave met his Karma? Or does he deserve our sympathy?
