Disclaimer: For those who read this and wonder what Iyakiciyuha means, It is Native American (Lakota to be exact) for "They are attached to each other" but in this story it is referenced as a name.
Episode One: "The Dream"
Long ago in the Lakota Native American tribe, there lived a girl whose name was Kimi. She was born an outcast due to her mothers sins, therefore life was harder for her growing up; unlike an ordinary girl of the tribe. By the age of five in order to be a part of the village Kimi had to prove herself by completing the most complex trials that only a strong warrior would be able to pass, naturally, without the proper guidance and training, she failed. The Chief made an agreement out of sympathy for Kimi that if she would complete small tasks, such as grabbing buckets and filling them up with water, then he would assign to her a personal guide to help her prepare for the trials, and so she did. Each day she would work harder and harder to see the promise that the Chief had made to her but each day it slowly faded away. By age nine she decided that the Chief's promise will never come to pass and started to train by herself. She would watch from a distance the other children of the tribe competing in the trials and she would reenact what they did by herself. Eventually by the age of fifteen she got to the point to where she felt confident enough to try again in the trials. So she ran to the Chief asking him to let her compete in the next trials but the Chief denied her request.
Disappointed and frustrated she wandered into the forest and stopped by her favorite creek where she proceeded to throw stones into the water. As she was throwing stones and questioning to herself why she is hated so much she was joined by a young boy. He stepped up on her left surprising her and he proceeded to throw a stone into the water whilst she looked at him with surprise on her face. Once the brief moment of surprise and shock had passed he turned to her and asked if something was wrong, she quickly straightened her face and said no. He grabbed another stone and asked why she was out in the forest alone as he threw the stone into the water. Shy and still shocked she didn't know what to say so she replied telling him that it was none of his concern as to why she was alone in the forest. He smiled and giggled softly. Confused, she asked him what that was about, he looked at her and told her that she has a "fighters spirit". With no more words being said after that except awkward silence and staring he turned around and started to walk back to the tribe. Before he left he turned back to her and told her that his name was Alo. She smiled... and then he walked away. She went back to her house in the outskirts later that day. All she could think about was that encounter, why did he want to strike conversation with her? It is forbidden for anyone; except for the Chief, to talk to an outcast.
Through the night in her sleep she had a strange dream of her grandmother, it was mostly a blur but in her dream she had seen an owl sitting on a branch that was hanging over the cliff of a waterfall, the owl then looked directly at her and spoke "Iyakiciyuha" and then the owl turned into her grandmother who was holding her hand out, pointing to a location that looked like a fortress in a mountain, and the only word her grandmother spoke was "destiny" in the tone of a soft whisper. It was a brief dream and quite a repetitive one. She continued to have that dream five nights in a row. Finally she decided to try and go to the tribe's dream interpreter, but once again, she is an outcast and her request had been denied. Meanwhile Alo was nearby and overheard her trying to request the dream interpreter to interpret her dream. As she left the tribe village Alo also snuck out of the village and followed her all the way back to her home in the outskirts without her noticing. When the sun had started to set, He approached her, and when he did it startled her. Shocked, confused and a little upset she asked him why he was there, he explained that he overheard her story about her dream and told her that he could help. Contradicting herself she told him she didn't want it and then asked him to leave, and so he did.
A few weeks later he had secretly met up with her again whilst she was at the bank of the creek collecting water. Frustrated she asked him what his purpose was for being there. He knelt down and grabbed a bucket and began to fill it with water. As he did he looked at her with a smile on his face and told her that he had never gotten to know her name and then asked her for it. She sighed and told him her name. "Nice to meet you officially, Kimi" he said as she blushed. They looked at each other smiling and he thought to himself that she is finally warming up to him and then they went back to work filling up buckets of water. For the rest of the day Alo continued to help Kimi with her chores and by the end of the day as they were standing face to face before he left to go back to the tribe he looked her in her eyes and he gently placed his hand on her face and he told her that he didn't want to go. As much as she wanted him to stay she pulled his hand off her face and told him he should probably leave now. "Kimi.." he whispered, "no, it is forbidden" she replied. Finally he expressed his feelings and told her that he didn't care if it was forbidden, "If loving you is what gets me killed then I am already dead" he said to her. Her eyes wide open as she is shocked, she couldn't find the words to say because she loves him also...
