Chocolate Kiss

Metamorphosis

By Nathan RainePublished 5 years ago 3 min read

StaIn the dark, hidden by the shadows of willows, stood a figure dressed in black. Slim and agile, short and proud, with onyx black hair swaying gently in the breeze. Moon light lit up the surrounding park, as aqua blue eyes pierced the veil. Light breaths could be heard along with the thump thump of the figure's heartbeat. Twigs snapped under the weight of a foot, as the figure tried to move silently along the trees. Bark falls silently to the ground as a soft and slender gloved hand braces itself against the rough trunk. A dagger shines in the moonlight, from the holster on the figure's leg.

Twigs snapped under the weight of a foot, as the figure tried to move silently along the trees. Bark falls silently to the ground as a soft and slender gloved hand braces itself against the rough trunk. A dagger shines in the moonlight, from the holster on the figure's leg.

A black ninja masked covered the figure's face. Vampire teeth were hidden behind a smirk in the figure's smile. The ticking of a watch could be heard in the silent void. Taking a steadying breath, the figure moves forward undetected towards their objective. The time limit was drawing near and they did not want to fail this mission.

Crickets chirped. Bees buzzed. Flowers scents wafted into the air. Deep in the park sat a picnic table. On Top of it sat a 3 tier chocolate cake, with a single slice missing. The missing slice was in a sealed container in the backpack belonging to the figure hidden in the shadows.

Finely sprinkled arsenic, along with the occasional candy sprinkle, garnished the top of the chocolate slice. The plan was to place the cake slice in front of the rival gang leader.

Moving ever so silently, the figure got closer to their target.

This was the final exam of the ninja academy. No mistakes could be made. Sweat droplets slid down their face, as their heart raced. They prepared for this moment their whole life.

Like a snake about to strike, the figure placed the cake slice in front of the gang leader with a note saying, "Happy Birthday, many blessings for the new year -Skylar" they retreated back into the tree hidden from sight as the play unfolded before them.

Vladimir looks down at the cake slice questioningly. "Seems it's my birthday again, my how the time flys by." He picks up the fork about to take a bite, when his cell phone goes off. He sits the fork down to answer the call. "Hello?. Hello? look if you're not gonna talk, kindly don't call back." He slams the phone down on the table, and picks the fork back up.

The figure watches anxiously. Vladimir puts the piece of cake in his mouth and swallows it. "Hmmm. Not bad." He continues to eat the cake slice, unaware of the amount of poison covering it.

The figure smiles behind their mask. This was it. They had finally finished the exam, and managed to not get spotted. Surely they would earn the top score on the leaderboard.

In the background a beeping noise starts to go off. It gradually gets louder, to annoying repetition. Cursing is heard as an alarm clock is thrown across a bedroom.

A girl sits up and rubs her eyes, yawning. Irritated, she gets up and throws her onyx hair into a ponytail. She runs her tongue over her vampire fangs. "Once again..i'm tormented by chocolate cake."

As a human she was allergic to chocolate, earning her the nickname Fudge. Her real name was Nevaeh Rose. So I guess fudge could be reasonable. If she were still human. If Vladimir had been human, instead of a vampire. Then maybe, just maybe she wouldn't have died...but if there was a way to go out; then Vladimir's chocolate kiss was halfway worth turning into a vampire.
