Charles Hall and the Tall Whites: Wrestling with Phantoms

There is a place in the Nevada desert where the silence is so profound, that at night, it seems to stretch the senses of our reality. This was the place where young Charles Hall found himself debating his very own Sanity. It was the 60’s when Nevada was all about free booze, women and black jack, but for Charles Hall gambling was not to be done with his hard earned cash but for the fortitude of his very soul. Hall was a weatherman for the air force at the Indian Springs Nellis Air Force Base. His duty was simple: to monitor weather conditions and log the entries. Yet, as the sun of sin dipped below the desert horizon, arcane shadows were cast of twisted deformities across the arid landscape, Hall soon questioned if he was alone.

Hall had heard the stories, Being the new recruit many would tell tales of a radioactive horse named Range Four Harry. One that had already injured his fellow servicemen in the past. Knowing that his leg was being pulled for a few laughs he ignored all warnings and advice relating to the Pale horse. Soon Hall’s days were filled with spectral holograms of creeping figures of white and otherworldly DREAD. Night after night he would see a myriad of mirages. Some phantoms were over seven feet tall, with skin as pale as the moon’s surface in the heavens, they had hair that glowed like the embers of the inferno beneath. Their very presence defied human understanding. Their eyes, large and black, seemed to pierce through the very fabric of reality, Hall struggled to comprehend the nature of these beings, whose very presence seemed to bend the reality around him.

It wasn’t until telepathic Voices reverberated in his head like whispers from ancient gods! It was then that he knew the phantoms were real! These beings, they were not bound by the same laws of physics as humans are, their spacecrafts — elongated, cylindrical objects — hovering silently in the air, without any visible means of propulsion. The desert, once a place of serene isolation, had become a zone of horrifying deformity, where the boundaries between reality and the unknown were smeared beyond recognition. For in the darkness, there lurked beings, entities known only as the “Tall Whites.”
