It didn’t take long for George to pull up outside of Sofia’s apartment building. Since it was late into the night, there was hardly any traffic on the road, and they were lucky enough to not get stopped at any lights. After five minutes of driving, George pulled to a stop outside of Sofia’s towering, apartment building. When he put on the brakes, Sofia moved to unbuckle her seatbelt before she turned to him with a grateful smile.

“Thank you, for dropping me off.” The blonde woman spoke, her voice smooth and kind.

“It’s no problem, Sofia. It’s my duty as your male co-star to make sure you get home safely.” George joked, giving her a cheeky smile that made her laugh.

“You’re an idiot.” The Emerson girl giggled.

She turned in her seat and pushed open the car door. Sofia took a step outside before gently closing the door behind her. She walked around the car, to the back, and pulled open the trunk, picking out her bags and once again, slinging one of them over her shoulder. When she had taken out all of her bags, she slammed the trunk of the car shut (it was completely on accident) before she walked to the driver’s side. Sofia bent down slightly as George rolled down his window, moving his arm so it was now hanging over the side.

“See you tomorrow, yeah?” Sofia asked, her kind smile on her face.

“Yeah, have a good night,” George said, sharing her smile.

Sofia turned and walked away. She practically skipped towards the entrance of her building but when she opened the door, she turned back around one last time.

“Thank you, again!” She shouted, waving at him wildly.

George gave her one last wave as well before she skipped inside her building. The brunette shook his head gently with a chuckle before driving away.

Back inside the apartment building, Sofia walked to the elevator and pressed the button on the side. She waited patiently for a few moments before the doors opened with a ding. The blonde took a few steps inside before pushing the button for her floor. Floor number five. The button lit up and the doors slowly closed. Sofia was suddenly basked completely in the annoying and repetitive elevator music which had her leaning to the side with a sigh.

After a few moments, the metal doors opened with another ding. Sofia walked out of the small metal container and walked towards her apartment building. She sighed, tired from the events of the day and she walked sluggishly to the place she called home.

When she arrived at her apartment, she dropped her bags, and she began to search through the one hanging off her shoulder for her house keys. Luckily, they were resting on the top of all of her costumes and such so she didn’t have to look for very long. She pulled them out and pushed them into her apartment door. Sofia twisted the set of keys until she heard a ‘click’. She pulled down the door handle and pushed open the door.

Sofia picked up her bags again before walking inside. She was quick to pull out her keys before kicking the door closed. The blonde walked towards the couch and she threw her bags beside her roommate and friend.

Kira Chung was a stunning young woman with a caramel complexion and a beautiful smile. Her parents moved to America from Korea in 1980, and they settled in well. After Kira was born, her parents were ecstatic, and they were very happy once they heard the news. When Kira was five, she and Sofia had met in elementary school after some people had been bullying and being mean to the young brunette. Sofia was quick to protect her and stand by her side through the torment, and they have remained best friends ever since.

“Hey!” Kira greeted from her place on the couch, smiling at her as Sofia went back to lock the door. “How was rehearsal?”

“Fine. I was a little late so Simon was not happy.” Sofia rolled her eyes, and Kira was quick to copy her actions. “George gave me a lift home, so it wasn’t terrible.”

The young blonde walked around the couch before collapsing down onto it. Kira smiled and gave her a sympathetic look. She knew Simon just seemed to have it out for her, despite her doing nothing wrong. Kira reached out and put her hand on her shoulder, earning an appreciative smile from her friend.

“I’m exhausted, so I’m going to head to bed.” Sofia sighed before getting up from her place on the couch.

The blonde began to walk deeper into her apartment and towards her bedroom. It was a small room, but it did the job, so Sofia couldn’t complain. Before she could make her way fully inside her room, she heard Kira call out from behind her.

“Don’t forget! Rent is due tomorrow.” The brunette called out from the couch.

Sofia sighed in annoyance. She had completely forgotten about the rent being due and she just knew she was short. Not by much, only by about fifty dollars but it still wasn’t good enough. Sofia nodded her head but didn’t reply to her friend and instead, carried on walking into her bedroom. She opened the door before slamming it closed when she got inside.

The young Emerson girl could not believe she was going to be short on rent. It shouldn’t be a big deal, but Kira and Sofia came to an agreement when they first moved in together. Neither had enough to pay for the rent of their own, and they could only afford the apartment if they split rent. Kira wouldn’t have the other fifty dollars either and she would not be the reason they lost the apartment.

Sofia sat on her bed and put her head in her hands. She then threw herself back onto her bed, groaning in annoyance as she thought about what she could do to get the extra fifty dollars on such short notice. The blonde woman rubbed her temples before she held her hand up and admired a pretty ring that sat on her finger. She sighed as she looked at the ring, thinking of the one who gave it to her. Sofia brought it to her lips, giving it a quick kiss before closing her eyes, in the hopes that it would hinder her tears.

She fell asleep that night, curled up in a shirt that didn’t belong to her as she cried herself into a disrupted nights sleep that would not help with her fatigued state. Sofia tried to muffle her sobs, but from the room next door, Kira heard her openly cry and she couldn’t help but feel her heart break for her best friend.

Sofia Emerson was meant for more but sadly, life just seemed to only want her to suffer.
