Chapter II: Lecture at R.L. University

Part 2: A Lecture with Professor Emeritus of Jovian History, Religion, and Culture of Rhadamanthys Linea University: Dr. Demeter Iassa Khan, former S.E.I.H.C.I.

“Welcome, everyone, to the Foundations of Jovian History, Styles, and Context here at the heart of culture on Europa Jovia, Rhadamanthys Linea. My name is Dr. Demeter Iassa Khan, pronouns they/them, and I will be your guide on this understanding of our people and culture on Europa Jovia. In this class you will come to understand what our people have come to be here on our brand new home, how that has affected us historically, religiously, and culturally. The road to our current ways has been long, arduous, and filled with endless and tireless working to make sure we preserve our life, and our nation as a whole, upon the first exoplanet pilgrimage away from our home planet Earth and our Terran cousins. To witness our nascent formation of beliefs, government, and slowly changing culture firsthand has been the most fascinating, and most deeply rewarding experience of my life in its entirety.

“When we came back into consciousness after the First Awakening, there was such a strange, reaffirming yet otherworldly beauty when we gazed upon the King of the Planets, Jupiter. He was right there, as if granting his blessing for our plight in which we had no idea whether or not it was going to be a success, as so many of our initial protocols and procedures hinged on certain luck and certain elements to be aligned. However, there were so many unknowns that we of the entire FNEJ did not know if any of us would survive.

“One of the most prominent was not knowing the specific ins and outs of the Jovian magnetosphere. The sheer radiation and ion deluge that tears through all of Jupiter’s moons thanks to the sheer power of the planet, but also mostly to Io’s immense volcanic activity, was one factor that we had to combat before the FNEJ’s first pilgrimage to our current home even commenced. The radiation is so great to the point where particles at the atomic level break apart, and thus anything on the surface of Europa - without any protection - will essentially die. Once we awoke, how would the FNEJ withstand this radiation?

“One of the inventions created back on Earth were the Twin Radiata: the Protana and Electra. The prototypes of the Twin Radiata approached the Jovian Deluge and the Ionic Flood that shower Europa’s surface with negatively charged and positively charged ions, as potential energy that could be converted into a number of tools, together with potential energy to fuel the greenhouse globes of human society on our moon. That tackled our question of electricity for a human society head on, but made the pressing concern of how we could make various levels of protection from the ten-times amount of radiation we would be exposed to compared to the Terran surface. There could not be one singular level that could solve the radiation, because then the sheer scale of the Twin Radiata would not only be too immense to transport from Earth to Europa Jovia, and would violate clauses of human occupation on Europa Jovia according to the EIHCI. We now had to break down this issue onto varying levels of protection, from societal down to individual.

“As we know, specific radiation exposure to the human body cannot go over a certain amount, else our DNA damages, breaks apart, and causes a slew of health problems that lead to immediate death when the radiation levels reach past the maximum amount that the body can handle to maintain homeostasis. There were first propositions back in Earth, where some of the representatives of the United Nations threw ideas of utilizing measured radiation exposure to build resistance against radiation in the human body, but those were quickly stomped due to the incredible amounts of ethical and flat out humane issues that would snowball into catastrophic levels in a short amount of time. Then there were the ideas of taking inspiration from insects, specifically cockroaches. You may be very aware that Terran insects such as cockroaches are very resistant to radiation, and can withstand pressure over 900 times their own bodyweight. That was where the idea of the Jovian human spinal exoskeleton was brought unto the table. By using nanotechnology, what if taking the first volunteers of the nascent FNEJ were injected with new biotechnology and genetic information to build a biological protection against the Jovian and Ionic radiation, and be able to pass this along through offspring? This weeded out the question of relying heavily on a non-biological extra exoskeletal armor that would not needed to be added quickly to offspring once they were born, because another issue presented was that as a people could not rely on the random biological luck that radiation resistance could be passed down within the first two generations. Biology can be manipulated through extreme environmental stressors, but that quickly becomes inhumane and violates many human liberties in the process.

“One of the factors we soon realized was on our side was the time of the shuttle Primus’ journey from Earth to Europa. In this circumstance, the natural body clock and cycles of all the peoples of the FNEJ could be utilized by allowing the nano-biotechnology to assimilate together with the rest of our cells, and see however long the bio-assimilation process will need to be for the prototype ideals of the Jovian-human spinal exoskeleton to become part of a human’s defining genetic characteristics that would be passed down one hundred percent of the time.

“However, we are not here for me to lecture on the specifics of the nano-biotechnology that was the artificial genetic beginnings of our Terran-Jovian heritage: that is what part of our Cilix Institute of Technology is for! For those of you who are interested in further pursuing studies to become Oracles under the Five Muses, or Understudy to the current Seichi, I serve as one of the mentors for the postgraduate and doctoral students seeking these fields.

“Let’s get back to the topic of culture. Where did our Jovian roots take place that deviated away from the various facets of Terran customs? It was really quite simple in the origin: as we stepped out of the shuttle Primus on the 0 F.A. upon Rhadamanthys Linea - as where the memorial of the First Step is located outside the University - the sight and feeling of Jupiter felt as if our cause was not only just, but given the blessing from the King of Planets himself. Thus it was only natural that a revival of the Ancient Grecian and Roman beliefs and mythologies came into the forefront of the FNEJ as the First Societal Protocols were enacted, establishing a solid foundation for a functioning exoplanet society that were honoring the clauses set out of the EIHCI and Five Treaties of Foundation. Interestingly enough, the our FNEJ was not the first exoplanet society: the first experimentations were carried out on what was named the Lunar Nodes upon Earth’s Moon, named after the same Nodes from the Terran astrology, and these are where the First Societal Protocols were formed to make sure future human exoplanet establishments are not only set for longterm flourish, but also to make sure the procedures, mistakes and inhumane practices of colonialization shall never come to pass again in the future. Clause II of the EICHI states, ‘In where an exoplanet human society shall complete the First Societal Protocols, there must be modifications made as per individual conditions on each particular future planet upon which humans shall create a non-intrusive, non-invasive society. The core principles, civil liberties, and core definitions of what it means to be human must be practiced at all costs, and shown to extraterrestrial species, sentient or otherwise. In the case the extension of human society on a particular exoplanet is seen in any way as invasive and actively harmful to the native species and ecosystem of the planet in question, then the Societal Extermination Procedures must be enacted, and the entire society must prepare to be securely evacuated back to Earth, whereupon the figureheads responsible for the human invasion will be judged in international as well as interplanetary courts headed by the entirety representation of the Terran cultures and nations through the United Nations of Earth.’

“The Jovian culture and identity began to unfold in two parts, with the two parts separated by time and discovery. In the first part, as we found interestingly enough that there were no sentient extraterrastrial species with which we were prepared to communicate with through our Spearheads of Linguistics of the FNEJ. Thus, our Assimilation Procedures were immediately carried out as per laid out in detail through the Treaty of Bangladesh of the Treaties Five. This is where our sources of water come from: rather than drilling new areas through the Europan ice crust, the areas with which the sub-surface ocean was already exposed were the areas we were to settle our pre-formed Society of Humane Aquean Exoplanetary Siphoning, so that all of the pre-existing Europan ice crust structure’s integrity is left alone and intact. With the King of the Planets in our view in the main hub of Terran-Jovian societal activity that is the Europan Rectangle, it was only natural that the worshipping of Jupiter - Zeus, the King of the Planets, the Jovial Blessor, among other names - rapidly germinated across the FNEJ, even so much as to blend into the religions of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. Now, why would I leave out Hinduism and Buddhism in this list in spite of the massive surge of both religions that are happening right now? Well, I will get to just that shortly.

“Referencing another one of the many unknowns the nascent FNEJ experienced was the fascinating phenomena that we as Terran-Jovians on Europa Jovia that came to be known as one of the several - and growing number of the named - Inexplicable Phenomena. As us Terran-Jovians know as norm nowadays, we experience the pull of the regular Resonances. What are the Resonances? This is where our current home, Europa Jovia, lines up in a particular and regular orbital ratio with the other Galilean moons - Ganymede, Callisto, and Io - together with Jupiter, and several physical and non-physical phenomena occur. In the physical realm, the resonance causes the regular tidal pulls and orbital stretches between the Galilean moons and Jupiter, causing each of them to maintain more of an oval shape as opposed to a more rounder circle. The tidal heating and geological shifts underneath the Sacred Sub-Ocean are some of the consequences as well, which we have been able to harness this regular natural energy swells to power a major percentage of our nation here. However, the non-physical effects of the Resonances the moons have together have indeed caused what we humans would describe as what I have mentioned as the Inexplicable Phenomena. With these Orbital Resonances, the people whose births that have occurred during these specific days, have particular affinities, three of them related but a fourth myriad one occurring less. These three affinities I will delve deeper Into detail later in the semester, but to give a simplified synopsis these affinities are the Brahman, Vishnun, and Shivan, named after three gods in the Trimurti. The Brahman affinity is known as the Creation Phenomena specifically with what our experts in the FNEJ Council is associated with the elements of life, water and earth as well as the elemental extensions of ice and flora, respectively. This was named the Affinity of Brahma, or Brahman affinity, the name and definition inspired from the ancient Hindi god of creation, Brahma. The second is the Vishnun affnity, the Affinity of Vishnu, and the Preservation Phenomena with the apparent elemental combinations of water and air, or water and fire, and their elemental offshoots. This is taken from the inspiration of the second of the Trimurti, Vishnu, the Hindi god of Preservation. The last of the triad is the Shivan affinity, the Affinity of Shiva, and the Destruction Phenomena, taken from the last of the Hindi Trimurti, Shiva: the god of destruction. There are two possible combinations that have been narrowed down: either earth and fire, or air and fire, plus the possible elemental offshoots. Where the elements of life, water and earth, bring about life, the two diametrically combinators of the opposite Shivan affinity has been witnessed as the topographical and geographical processes that cause initial destruction: lava and flare tornadoes back on Earth, for instance.

“From what we have gathered so far about these fascinating ratios and mystical phenomena, class, the Resonances that regularly occur between the four major moons and Jupiter could be broken down via Occam’s Razor and, drawing from the Terran astrology philosophy, as the four Western Terran philosophical aspects of fire, water, earth, and wind being represented by the four Galilean moons, and the influence of Jupiter’s aspect of Expansion bringing about these Phenomena from, quite literally, fantasy to reality. Of these philosophical elements, our Europa Jovia represents water, especially with our Sacred Sub-Ocean below us. Io logically is represented by fire, defined by its extreme volcanic activity and the source of the Ionic Flood. Drawing from the ancient Greek mythos and what we have discovered currently of the other three moons of Galileo, we are fairly certain with Callisto representing the element of air, as a nymph of Artemis. This leaves Ganymede to represent the philosophic element of earth, especially with our few probes onto Ganymede finding evidence of a sister sub-ocean similar to ours here on Europa Jovia.

“Now, I have referenced three affinities, but have not yet spoken about the fourth one. What is this myriad fourth affinity? Well, from what we have gathered from the scientific societies through the Council, this fourth affinity is more irregular in terms of frequency, and is too erratic to pinpoint exactly if it comes from any specific location, or a time in the Jovian year. This also has no relation to the Orbital Resonances. This is what we could only describe as the Oceanic Affinity: individuals who are sensitive to an incredible degree to the regular ebb and flows of Europa Jovia’s Sacred Sub-Ocean, and have gained distinct, but unshared, natural knowledge of our icy home, and roughly half of the tallied cases possessing the ability to manipulate physical water. From the Western and Eastern Terran cosmic philosophies, these individuals have been documented to possess similar personality qualities that us humans - both Terran and Terran-Jovian - have given relation to philosophic water. We will discuss these affinities more in detail in my next lectures.
