Good Morning Mr. Fobs

Decryption in progress

…………

The following message is for your eyes only. This message will self-destruct in 5 minutes.

I regret to inform you that Operation Butterfinger was a total failure. It started off fine. But something went wrong.

The 3 Musketeers entered the enemy stronghold exactly as planned. They made it to the room indicated on the hidden map. That is where Mr. Goodbar was waiting. They exchanged briefcases without anyone noticing. From there, they left in separate directions with identical briefcases. This was done just in case they were followed. Only one had the correct bag.

Oh, Henry had the right case. While the Nerds traveled to their perspective pickup points, he made a scheduled detour. With inside help, who wishes to remain unnamed, he headed down an underground tunnel that opened inside the Fifth Avenue subway station.

He boarded the train and waited to meet his contact. While waiting, he decided to Take 5 and listen to a beautiful Symphony that was playing outside. He stood up and walked to the door. It opened, but he did not step off. He just listened to the music.

Because he walked way, he did not see Clark Bár take a seat next to where he was just sitting. Clark waited only 2 minutes before getting up and walking away. After 5 minutes, Henry sat back down and continued to wait.

When an unknown gentleman sat down next to him, he recited the rehearsed script.

“Did you get a chance to see that show. I forgot its name. Ah, Whatchamacallit?”

“You mean the one where the rabbit beats the hare?”

Once again, briefcases were exchanged, and Henry made his way to join the other 2 aboard the Jolly Rancher. They were all able to relax knowing that they made the Skor, I mean score.

“You have no idea how much of a Life Saver this job was.”, said Chunky. He was actually the skinny one in the group. “My checking account is at Zero.”

They were expecting a huge Pay Day. They were expecting over 100 Gold Nuggets valued at 100 Grand, at least, each. But there was a problem. When they opened the case, all they found was a bunch of Bottle Caps. Not one of them was worth more than a penny.

Unfortunately, Henry gave the briefcase to the wrong person. A rouge agent. According to Intelligence, his name was Charleston Chew. He was part of a group of Smarties that left the agency and joined the other side.

“I thought I saw him give a few Snickers when he was walking away.” Henry said.

Chunky was clearly upset. His share of the pay off would have set him for life. Now, it wasn’t going to happen. He could have chocked Henry. But the noticed that Ruth, the only female of the group, was calm, cool, and collect.

“Ruth”, Henry said. “How can you be so calm?”

“I told you, call me Baby”, Ruth said. “Because that was me you met on the train. You let Clark leave. I have the correct briefcase. I’m keeping all the money. By the way, Clark Bar is the rouge agent. I also have the original case also.”

The mission was a complete failure. But no secrets have been released, and the rouge agent has been identified. So, I hope that no adverse action will be taken.
