Box of Mystery

It’s almost Halloween ,that means i need to decorate my house. As I look online for Halloween decorations i heard a knock on my door, i looked outside the window no one was there but I could see they left something on the porch so I decided to open my door and see what it is. As I walked back in my house with a heavy box in my hands i went to the kitchen to open it up, and inside the box is a big bright orange pumpkin.

As i grab the pumpkin out of the box, a piece of paper fell out onto the table i sat the pumpkin down and red the note it said, “ beware of all good and evil be careful with all what you do and Reveal what lies beneath your true self”, I turned it around to see more writing, “ when one reveals it true self one has to face the consequences “. I didn’t know what to think is this a prank? Or is it real?. I didn't feel safe alone so I called one of my friends to come over and stay with me until tomorrow and as I was waiting I decided it'd be smart to put the pumpkin outside and I left a big bowl of candy outside as well. An hour passed by and my friend still hasn't showed up I started to get worried and called her, she picked up and said she's 20 minutes away I asked her," why is it taking you so long?," she responded back saying," Sorry I was helping my mom with the groceries I figured it wouldn't take long I would come over right after helping her, you okay? you sound anxious". I told her I would explain everything when she gets here.

When she finally arrived, we both were sitting in the living room in silence and she says," are you going to explain or are we just gonna sit here in silence". I went outside to grab the pumpkin and explain to her how it all started, " when I woke up today and I heard a knock on my door and I answered it no one was there but a box on my porch, she gave me a strange look and I responded by saying," I know I shouldn't have answered the door anyways I brought the box inside and I opened it and there was this pumpkin inside isn't that weird? ,". My friend who's name is Lilly by the way and my name is Rain, sorry for the late introduction and as I was explaining my morning to Lily, I showed her the card that fell out of the pumpkin. She examined the card and looked at me and said," is this a Halloween prank or something?", I gave her a serious look," Lily do you really think I would prank you especially during Halloween". While we sat there thinking of what to do about the mysterious pumpkin and card we heard a knock on my door, me and Lily looked at each other and walked up to open the front door together as we opened the door slowly, a small child appear in the doorway wearing a ghost costume.

I looked at the small child and said, “ Hello, what are you suppose to be?,” and the small child in the ghost custome was silent and stared at us for a whole second. I was really weirded out by this child in the custome on my doorstep and I looked back at Lily and she shrugged, then gave the small child one candy bar and closed my door.
