Do you know where I've been dropped? I'd rather risk going to that place the others don't dare. Indeed, I am heading for Colombia.

Bogotá knocked me out in a surprise move. Unlike horror films, the airport was not dirty at all and it was easy to move about in it. When I got to the airport, My friend Eli he gave me a big tight hug, and after he introduced his friend Antonio, we hopped in a yellow cab. Dashing through the city rays of the sun pierced high skyscrapers which did not match the image of a "bad" place.

I dropped my things at Antonio's apartment just desperate to see the world. The long shadows of the afternoon stretched as we started walking together, Eli and Antonio were almost attached to me. TransMilenio, Bogotá's public bus, we boarded there.

Life in the city was fascinating for me so I immersed myself in it – couples were chatting, moms with sleepy babies in their arms, and lost teenagers watching cell phones However, I started to notice that Elil or Antonio who were constantly observing every person on the side.

Finally, I stammered out, barely audible over the steady bus hum, "Why are you guys so tense?"

Eli took a breath. “Bogotá’s not always easy,” he said. "So many people steal things, particularly from the tourists. " Certainly, my enthusiasm didn't last long. Is this the actual Bogotá? Is it a good representation of the city’s energy?

We finally stumbled upon a vibrant shopping center surrounded by the sumptuous smells of street food. We visited a busy restaurant, ate ajiaco (a delicious local stew), and Eli did the telling. I just want to protect you," he said seriously. "Be very careful is the most suitable. "

Everything just seemed to be normal. I got along with everyone because the merchants were funny and cool. Perhaps, I mused, Bogotá's poor reputation was not fair. On the contrary, the fact that both Elil and Antonio were shielding me all day had a seed of doubt going inside my head.

Was this truly gorgeous city, which used to be full of life and wondrous faces an umbrella for the unknown evil? It is going to be time and exploration that will show the truth.

Was this one of the great cities or there was danger under the cover? Tune in later to find out whether or not Bogotá's charms convince me, or if the concerns of my friends are unfounded.

Colombia's adventure continues!
