Bholu Bear and the Crocodile
Story of struggle of a cute bear
B
holu the bear was very thirsty, so he began drinking water from the river in the forest to quench his thirst.
Bholu exclaimed, "Oh, wow! The water is so cold. It brings relief to my throat; otherwise, this scorching heat would have worsened the situation."
Kanu, the cunning crocodile, lay in ambush along the River. Kanu was very clever and used to eat the animals that came to the river to quench their thirst even during the ceasefire days ensuring a steady supply of food. During the scorching heat when the forest reservoirs dried up, leaving only the waters of the river, a rule was in place that no other animal would attack the animals that came to quench their thirst. However, Kanu, with his crafty ways, regularly defied this rule, seizing opportunities to break it.
Bholu exclaimed, "It is unbearably hot; I'll cool my feet in the river."
As he immersed his feet, Kanu, lying in wait, swiftly clamped his jaws around Bholu's right foot. A sharp cry of intense pain escaped Bholu as the unexpected attack caught him off guard.
Meenu, the sparrow, became impatient upon hearing Bholu's words. Meenu and Bholu shared a close friendship, frequently assisting one another. Whenever bees set out to gather nectar from flowers, Meenu used to inform Bholu. And Bholu used to extract some honey from the beehive for both himself and his mother.
Meenu expressed concern, "That painful moan is coming from Bholu. He must be in trouble, and I should help him." With determination, Meenu swiftly flew towards the source of the distressing sound.
As Meenu soared through the sky, her gaze fixed upon Bholu at the riverbank. Kanu, the crocodile, had clamped its jaws around Bholu's leg, and despite Bholu's strenuous efforts, he remained ensnared.
Bholu pleaded with Kanu, explaining that his mother was alone at home, and there was no one to care for her. He implored Kanu to release him. Unfortunately, his appeals seemed to fall on deaf ears, as Kanu showed no signs of relenting.
Bholu spoke with urgency, "Dada, you're violating the forest's ceasefire rule. Currently, there is a truce in place, and no animal should harm another animal that comes to drink water from the river."
Kanu the crocodile defiantly retorted, "I don't adhere to any rules. There is no greater principle for me than satisfying my appetite."
Hovering in the air, Meenu pondered on how to rescue Bholu, considering Kanu's formidable strength. Suddenly, an idea sparked in Meenu's mind.
Meenu- “Dada oh Dada! What is this, you haven't got anything else to eat that you will eat this black-faced bear. If you eat him, your complexion will turn dark, and then you won't be able to express anyone!"
Kanu was impressed by Meenu's words, he was already a laughingstock because of his rugged body. Now he didn't want to spoil his complexion either.
Kanu conceded - “Hey sparrow! You are right, but what should I do, I am very hungry.”
Meenu responded, "Dada, you spoke rightly about hunger. Look, as I was coming from the other side of the river, I spotted a herd of golden deer heading towards the river to drink water. Here's an idea: go to the opposite bank of the river and make those golden deer your prey. By consuming them, your complexion might turn as radiant as gold."
Intrigued by Meenu's suggestion, Kanu released Bholu's foot and ambled towards the opposite bank of the river.
Meenu's clever maneuver had successfully spared the life of her dear friend Bholu.
Bholu expressed heartfelt gratitude to Meenu.
Moral of the story -
Wisdom is greater than strength. Although physical strength plays a major role during hard times but when it comes to what is superior wisdom, knowledge, cleverness and IQ makes the difference.
