Before Rain"

A Romance Love Story

Prologue: The First Drop

The rain always came at 3:07 PM.

Lena had timed it for years—ever since she moved to the sleepy coastal town of Havenbrook, where the weather was as predictable as the tides. Every day, without fail, the skies would darken at 3:05 PM, and by 3:07, the first drop would fall.

But today, the rain was late.

And so was him.

Chapter 1: The Boy Who Waited

Lena first noticed him on the old wooden bridge—the one that arched over the river like a question mark. He stood there every day at 2:58 PM, wearing a faded gray hoodie, staring at the water as if it held secrets.

She named him The Bridge Boy in her head.

For weeks, she watched him from the safety of her bookstore’s window, wondering why he always left one minute before the rain.

Until the day she didn’t.

"You’re late," he said, without turning around.

Lena froze, her umbrella half-open. "Excuse me?"

He finally looked at her, and she realized two things:

His eyes were the exact shade of the storm clouds.

He had a scar above his left eyebrow—thin, like a crack in porcelain.

"The rain," he said softly. "It’s late today. Just like you."

And then, as if summoned, the first drop fell.

Right between them.

Chapter 2: The Secret of 3:07 PM

His name was Kai.

Kai, who never carried an umbrella.

Kai, who knew the exact moment the rain would start.

Kai, who smiled like he’d already memorized her soul.

"It’s a curse," he admitted one afternoon, as they huddled under the bridge, the rain hammering above them. "I can feel the rain before it comes. Like… pressure in my bones."

Lena scoffed. "That’s impossible."

But then he took her hand and placed it over his chest.

His heartbeat thundered—three slow pulses, then a stutter.

"One minute," he whispered.

And just like that, the rain began.

Chapter 3: The Storm Inside

Lena learned three things about Kai that week:

He wasn’t from Havenbrook. ("I washed up here," he said, like it was normal.)

He hated the ocean but loved the sound of waves.

His scars weren’t just on the outside.

"What happens if you ignore it?" she asked once, tracing the jagged line on his wrist. "The rain?"

Kai’s smile was bitter. "It drowns me anyway."

That night, she dreamt of a boy made of water, dissolving into the sea.

Chapter 4: The Breaking Point

The rain didn’t come the next day.

Or the day after.

By the third day, Kai was feverish, his skin hot to the touch. "It’s building," he gasped, clutching his chest. "When it breaks—"

Lena didn’t let him finish.

She dragged him to the shore, where the waves roared like a living thing. "Let it go."

Kai shook his head. "I’ll hurt you."

"Try."

And then—

He kissed her.

Not gently. Not sweetly. But like he was pouring every unshed storm into her, his hands tangled in her hair, his breath ragged against her lips.

The sky split open.

Not with rain.

With lightning.

Epilogue: After the Rain

The townspeople still talk about that day—the freak storm that flooded the streets, the thunder that shook the windows, the boy and girl who danced in the chaos like they’d summoned it.

But Lena only remembers two things:

The way Kai’s heartbeat finally steadied against hers.

The note he left on her pillow the next morning:

"The rain comes at 3:07. But I’ll always stay until 3:08."

"Would you risk drowning for love? COMMENT your answer!"
