I found a gold ring on the beach with my metal detector. It still had a severed finger attached to it. After retching up my stomach's contents, I touched the ring, fearing about touching the finger.

Sadly, that was my poor mistake. As soon as I touched the ring, I heard a voice. As if controlled by a puppeteer, I had pushed the other finger out with my own. I couldn't yank it off without severing my finger.

Seeing a head followed by colorful scales popping out of the water, I realized the horror awaiting me.

I gnawed it off.
