Apocalypse Cop
Not all heroes wear capes
January 12th, 2030,
I am writing this letter to human resources, explaining the circumstances of my absence during the new year. My holiday vacation to the Caribbean’s was phenomenal and all my vacation plans went accordingly. It wasn’t until I had to leave where things became… complicated.
The cruise ships were unoperated and the airports were empty. It wasn’t until I met a local who offered a ride back to the states in exchange for company. He kept going on and on about the judgement upon mankind is now on us; it was mostly gibberish from what I put together.
Unimportant details aside, I managed to reach the border of Texas around the 5th of this month. I manage to self-rent a car with a drop off location from Texas to Las Vegas, not an employee in sight. God I forgot how big that state is. I spent an entire week traveling, and I’m finally glad to be back to my hometown and ready to work again.
The purpose of this letter is to explain my circumstances more than it is to excuse them. Until I hear back from Human resources, I will continue my work diligently.
Sincerely,
Officer David Barnes

Several incidents of abandoned vehicles across the Las Vegas roads and highways, leaving multiple roads unusable and yet not a single report or claim. The following actions have been taken.
Initially I reached out to several towing companies to help clear the roads, all of which went straight to voicemail. I find it very bizarre, but I guess I must take matters into my own hands. I proceeded by giving out 535 parking tickets for the countless number of abandoned cars.
I will continue to do the same if the towing companies are still not picking up by tomorrow. Any further reports on this incident will prove to be redundant, as the tickets and the numbers will speak for themselves.
Side note: I just made the state nearly $40,000 today, by myself. I deserve a god damn raise.

January 17th, 2030, Memo
I find it strange that I am the only person who is showing up to work. Did I miss a memo? I have not seen a single cop in the precinct since I returned from my vacation, and not a single letter or email has been sent addressing anyone’s absence.
All things considered; I think I’ve done a great job keeping the peace. Not a single reported felony this past week.
Is it a bad thing that I find myself bored out of my mind? Thankfully writing down my thoughts are what’s keeping me occupied.

January 20th, 2030 Case No. 000036589513 Reporting Officer: David Barnes
A silent alarm went off at a local casino several blocks away from the station. Going in to investigate, I find several suspects looting casino chips claiming it will be the new currency for the city. The entire casino is ransacked; every slot machine broken for coins, and chips and debris all over the dusty carpeted floors. The bar shelves are clear of any liquor that might have been there.
At first glance, a few of the perpetrators had the common sense to run away. It’s nice to see that some people still respect the badge. Two of the perpetrators decided to assault me, the only police officer in the casino. I was able to tase one of them and apprehend the other keeping damages to a minimum.
Neither man had identification on them, and neither were cooperating. Unfortunately, I could only apprehend one of them since I traveled here on a motorbike. The unconscious culprit just caught his big break. The second culprit, who refuses to give me his name, remains in custody at the LVMPD until charges have been processed.
Upon a full body search, several narcotics in small quantities were found on this person, alongside a stainless-steel heart shaped locket.
Side note: The pictures inside the locket depicts a family of three, none of which displays the man in custody, let alone not a single person looks like they could be related to him. Perhaps it was stolen; if so I hope that family is doing okay.

January 20th, 2030 Memo
The culprit I currently have in custody paces back & forth in his cell, several feet across my desk. His movements are not of anxiety or fear, but genuine excitement. He keeps chanting “They’re coming to get me outta here, just you wait and see” every other minute, often followed by incoherent muttering and continued pacing.
This man is clearly high. I might feel sorry for him when he sobers up, but maybe then he’ll start answering my questions. I just hope the withdrawal doesn’t kill him by the end of all this.
Funny how I complained about being bored three days ago. Now I get to spend time in an empty precinct with this nutjob.
David

Reporting Officer: Fuckface McGee, reporting for duutyyy!
.I’ll admit, the police had a lot of FUCKING NERVES to think they can stop us! And to think they only sent one cop?! Holy shit, they ONLY HAVE ONE COP?! Hahahah, that’s fucking comedy right there! Yo Jimmy you writing this down? Good. Keep writing. Wait no, not everything you stupid son of a bitch! ugh! Forget it!
While we got officer Barnes in his cage right there, I’m gonna lay some new ground rules for this town of ours. Get this down on paper Jimbo!
Rule number 1: What happens in Vegas, everybody!
“STAYS IN VEGAS”
Rule number two: We OWN this city, so what stays in Vegas, stays with us! Can I get a HELL YEAH?!
“HELL YEAH”
Rule #3: If you ain’t with us, YOUS AGAINST US!
As for officer Barnes over there? Break em’. If he ain’t joining us he’s good as dead, capiche? And don’t forget to load up on every ATM, casino chip, or anything that is worth something! This city is ours for the taking!
“VICTOR! VICTOR! VICTOR! VICTOR!”

January 24th, 2030 Case No. 000036589515 Reporting Officer: David Barnes
On January 22nd, 2030 an organized attack on the precinct took place, lead by a man that went by the name of Victor. His association to the last perpetrator I arrested remains unclear. Instead of ending my life like they should have, the decided to put me behind bars while releasing their friend. The following days involved them toying with me, using me as a punching bag, and splashing freezing cold water on me whenever I were to fall asleep. It was torturous.
It wasn’t until the night of the 23rd where I decided to retaliate when they were most vulnerable, when they though it was a good idea for the man with the keys to me cell to fall asleep within arm’s reach. Needless to say, I took several lives escaping that cell, and even more lives when I reobtained my firearms.
The precinct is a complete mess, and now I must clean it up. With 9 of the 14 men who were here today, I hope to God the 5 that are alive have the common sense to never come back. Victor himself is still at large.

January 25th, 2030 Memo
It seems like no matter how many times I wash my hands, the red stains will never come off. I can’t stand the smell of this place; I’m sure the Nevada heat would make things worse if it weren’t winter. The bodies are disposed of with the body bags they were sealed in, and I’m almost out of air fresheners and cleaning products.

January 26th, 2030 Memo
Power outages are becoming more frequent, which isn’t too surprising. Not a lot is being maintained by anyone as of now. It’s honestly making it difficult to finish these memos of mine.
I managed to air out the precinct some more today, I can finally breathe in here. The past two weeks have felt like the longest days in my life. Now I feel lost in thought when going through with the most mundane of tasks. My showers are twice as long, and my nights of sleep are halved. Is this really any way to live?
Dave
January 27th, 2030 Memo
It just occurred to me that no one is calling the police anymore. They probably gave up on trying weeks ago. Shame.

January 28th, 2030 Memo
You’ll never believe who found a half bottle of whiskey in the chief of police’s locked cabinet!

January 29th, 2030 Memo
You know what? Enough is enough. I have sat around my desk for too long, sulking in my own misery. I can’t just let one bad night dictate the rest of my life! I am an officer of the law god damn it!
If there’s people out there who are in need hope, or need to be saved, then it should be me risking it all so that their lives can be better!
I have to find that family in the silver locket, and I need to settle unfinished business with the 5 assholes that got away! Vegas needs to be avenged, and Nevada needs a hero that gets shit done.
I'm coming for you Vic.
Locked, loaded, and ready to go,
Apocalypse Cop
