An Art Theft
This was planned for a long while. Now the day finally came and they were better than anticipated.
They had spent several weeks on this whole thing. And there were chances that it wouldn't go well. But, somehow it went better than they thought. Taking the paintings of a renowned blind artist, Angelique Fleur. It had been late at night when the trio snuck into the building. Amber disabled the alarm as Scarlette and Raven went to work.
Raven undid the casing that the paintings were in. While Scarlette carefully lifted them out. Placing them in a suitcase, where they wouldn't be scratched or dented. As they couldn't sell them properly if they were.
And their buyer would not let them live if they had.
Soon as Scarlette got the last of the hundred and fifty pieces in, they snuck out. Grateful that the guard was sleeping deeply from the sedative Amber slipped him in a coffee. One that she gave pretending to be a delivery person. It had been almost way too easy for them. But, none of them commented on it as they left the way they came. Fearing they would get caught if they did. Smirking ear to ear as they crept back to the van. Mentally counting the money they were soon to make.

This creature was nothing that he, Sparky, had ever seen before. He had seen humans before, sure. But not like this. What was in front of him, he wasn't sure was human. As this person had no feathers, or fur, or any scales on their upper half of their body. Though she did have long brown hair, he thinks that's what that stuff is, that was shoulder length. She looked sort of like some of the young women who visited the beach from time to time. Aside from the seaweed wrapped around their upper chest, lack of belly button, and gills like some of the fish he regularly ate.

A Deadly Chase in the Forest
The forest was divided into two very different worlds. On one side, tall green trees stood close together, their leaves forming a thick roof that blocked much of the sunlight. Birds moved quietly between branches, and the air smelled fresh and alive. On the other side, the land was dry and cracked, covered with dust and broken branches. The trees there were fewer, and the ground looked tired, as if it had not seen rain for a very long time.
