It had only been two weeks, since she was deceased. I needed to take some time, to go and clear my mind. I take a ride on my bike, I only see by moonlight, but what a beautiful sight!
I see a heart shaped face, amongst the haze. The most beautiful creature, something I learned from my teacher. Staring back into my eyes, a magnificent barn owl! It comes out at night to play, the game of catching of prey. It stares into the night, before taking flight.
I reach my destination, eager to share the information. In that moment I knew, my mom was with me too. I’m glad I took this ride, to help ease my mind. Gladly I caught this sight, of the beautiful creature taking flight. There is nothing like taking adventures, with memories you’ll always remember.
We don’t always cherish what we had, either memories good or bad. All the happy and the sad, until they’re gone forever in a flash. I know she’s always watching over me, this I always see, forever in my heart, she’ll always be. Her love ran like a river, always abundant and given. There’s nothing like a mother’s love, surely as pure as a dove. They watch closely like the owl, to protect us from any foul.
I tell my grandparents what I saw, they stand in pure awe. They just couldn’t believe, they saw the same as me! In that moment they knew, their child was watching over them too. We enjoy our evening, reminiscing on the meaning. My grandparents cooked my mother’s favorite, she was always sure to savor it. They pulled out old photographs, and we shared many laughs. It’s getting late at our house, time to quieten like a mouse. I prepare for bed, as I go to lay my head, I’ll always remember what my mom said. There’s nothing you can’t do, and I’ll always watch over you. We are ready for sleep, but we hear loud heaps. The dogs are raised from the floor, so we look out the door. We all look outside and stare in disbelief, we all see the owl sitting in the tree. In that moment, the dogs knew, their previous owner was with them too.
I had never felt such pain, for the loss that I had gained. I felt all my sunny days began to fill with rain. There is so much I have learned, because my life took a big turn. Everything is precious, that is the greatest lesson. I try to fall asleep, by counting sheep. I finally reach a slumber after a high count of numbers.
I awake the next morning to the tea pot roaring. I smell sausage, grits, and eggs, so I hurry out of bed. After we eat, I get in my grandad’s passenger seat. We have to go to town, birds chirping all around. We get to the store, but couldn’t find what we came for.
He decides to take me to his pond, I see birds fly beyond. I caught many fish, for dinner they’ll be delish. We had the best day, I wanted to stay.
I see so much love in my grandparents eyes. They have truly helped me through some of the hardest times. We get home and unwrap the fish, and I wish, good times like these could always exist.
My grandma fries up our fish and it is sure my new favorite dish! The moral of my story, is to find everything with glory. I’ll never forget what I had, all the good and bad.
