It seems cliche, to say that I have no memory of what happened, but it's the truth. In fact, I don't have much memory of anything right now. The last thing I do remember is letting my dog outside in the morning, then everything goes black until now, when I find myself sitting on a passenger train surrounded by nearly one hundred other people. I remember looking around myself whenever my memory starts back up again and confirming that there were several people around me filling the train, but since that time, no one has spoken to me, and - somewhat conveniently - there are no people immediately in my vicinity, and the train is moving too quickly for me to move from my seat to talk to anyone else.
The door at the front of the car opens, and a woman pushes a cart through it. The stewardess, I think, maybe she can help me. Patiently, I wait for her to make her way to where I am seated, towards the back of the car. Agonizingly slowly, she makes her way down the aisle, stopping at every seat to ask if anyone aboard wants any snacks or refreshments. Some take longer than others, naturally. Finally, she makes her way to me.
"Anything to eat or drink for you, sir?" she smiles.
"Where am I?" I immediately blurt out, causing a few heads to turn, but just as quickly, they return to their own business.
She blinked several times, before stammering for a few seconds, regaining her composure to say: "You're on the train to Chicago. We will arrive in about three hours."
"No! No!" I scream, unable to control myself. More heads turn, but I don't care. "Why am I here? How did I get here?"
She looks stunned, taken aback, even confused. "Sir, I don't believe I understand. You got here the same way as everyone else. You purchased a ticket to Chi-"
"No!" I cut her off. Still screaming at the top of my lungs, I told her that there was no way that I would not remember buying something as expensive as a train ticket.
She looked at me blankly for a brief moment, then simply said, chipper as she had been when she arrived, "I see you're having trouble sir. I'll come back later." As she finished, she began again pushing the trolley towards the back of the car, quickly, as there were no more passengers behind me to serve.
Everyone was looking at me now. I knew I should be uncomfortable, but I wasn't. Instead, I yelled, generally addressing the entirety of the car. "What?!"
Most people immediately turned back to face forward, but some remained looking in my direction. I huff, sinking into my seat, and ignore them.
Suddenly, the door behind me opens and I turn to look back at it. The woman was back, without the cart this time, and accompanied by two large men in what looked like police uniforms. She points at me, and the men move in my direction, until they stand at the edge of my seat, towering over me.
"Everything alright sir?" one of them asks me.
I yell back, demanding to know where I am and how I got there, questions I think to be fair to ask and get an answer to.
The one that had not asked the question tazes me.
I soiled myself, unable to move. The men grab me, and I can feel the train slowing to a stop. They hold me, making sure I am unable to escape, dragging me to the back of the car through the open door. Once the train had come to a stop, one of them flung the door open, and they took me off, leaving me outside by the tracks.
Without a word, they turn around and get back on the train, which powers up and takes off, leaving me behind in a place I do not recognize. I didn't even know they were allowed to do that, but they won't get away with it on my watch.
