Adjustment Period, Day 5.5
Speling is Importunt.
Patricia stood in the mall parking lot, watching the horde of walking corpses advance toward the silent buildings. Dale had to be in there, somewhere.
She'd begged him not to play the hero, knowing it was futile.
Her heart sank. There he was, and it was ghastly. Her husband was long gone. Only a few feet away, she sighed her frustration, “Oh, Dale. Give me a break!”
Seconds later, she watched the mob proceed into the wrecked building. In her hand she held the implement Dale's corpse had wrenched from a smashed car.
Dale was never a good speller.
