Twelve people in front of me. Not much longer now.
Just an hour more and FOMO begone. Yes, I too shall have social-media bragging rights about “green space”.
And let me tell you right now, when I get my 30 minutes in *green space* I’m not going to take off my breather. No way. I know they say it’s safe and all, but this guy Matt, a colleague of mine; he went last week and he says he had an itchy, scratchy throat for weeks after. He still says he loved it though and that the risk was totally worth it. Even though he didn’t get to see the deer. Ironic that they mention the deer in all their targeting ads as I don’t know anybody who has seen that thing.
The line is moving slowly but I’m getting there, only seven people in front of me now. I was hopingTuesdays would be the quieter days but I guess social media has really made *green space* go viral. I might get lucky as the three directly in front of me look like a family, mom dad and teenage daughter. I’m hoping they’ll go in together.
I would’ve loved to share this special experience with someone, but I’m going through a bit of a tough patch right now when it comes to hook-ups. It’s a shame as my job’s been going well and my crypto is at an all time high.
THIS IS IT - THEY JUST CALLED MY NUMBER.
I don’t think anything quite prepared me for how spectacular *green space* was, from the moment I stepped in until now as I’m describing this, it was just, well indescribable is what it was.
Green, unbelievably green, mossy, moist and magnificent. I mean I have a pretty decent *Protosynchro-holographic-projection* system in my place, but this tech was something else. My friend Kelly thought that “green space* might be real but there’s no way anyone could foot the water bill for this lush, tropical expanse. It was like something out of old earth, I think EDEN is what they used to call it. Something I’ve only seen in movies or museums, until now.
There were trees, small creatures, I think they’re called “flutterby’s”. Amazing! That blue sky almost blinded me. You couldn't tear your eyes from it, it was dazzling, blinding even and at some point I reluctantly had to look down - that’s when I saw it.
THE DEER.
Wow I thought, now this is value for money. I was expecting it to dash away as soon as our eyes met but surprisingly it held my gaze. Okay I hope you’re not going to laugh at me for sounding cliched, but it was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Those eyes, dark and delicate. They held something sad, something mysterious. And then, and I know you’re not going to believe me, but it actually came towards me. I thought it might be some kind of VFX but it came closer and closer. Hobbling it was, on three legs, crippled and almost begging. This was real…
Would you believe it, the poor thing had a thorn in its foot. I’m not lying to you. THIS REALLY HAPPENED.
That’s when I took off my breather. I thought it was worth the risk, you only live once right? And I needed a better look at that thorn in its paw, do deers have paws? Anyway it was tiny, I got it out though. And I’ve never felt so alive, so at one with nature. Can you imagine that? I actually touched it, I could even smell it, although the smell is very hard to describe. Again it made me think of museums. The smell of nature? A whiff of nostalgia is how I’d describe it.
And then just as suddenly it took off. I ran after it wanting this magical moment to last . But it was gone. Turning around I started to tear up, I felt inexplicably sad. Just an empty space where the deer stood. Unbearable.
To make things worse I only had five minutes of “greenspace” left and the rest of the experience would’ve been a complete anti-climax but then I stepped on something - a beautiful modern locket lying in the middle of the footpath. It must’ve been dropped by a previous visitor. When I clipped it open it flashed up the 4D image of a girl. Yeah I know what you’re thinking, but I swear it even had her phone number etched on the back.
We’ve been dating now for three weeks and it’s going great. In fact last night was our first overnight and his morning I woke up to find her watching me with those big brown eyes of hers. The funny thing is they kind of remind me of the deer.
That same wistful look with just a whiff of nostalgia
