A Timeless Journey

One moment in time there lived a young girl named Rebekah. She was a fair child and very intelligent and creative. She never knew her father she was told he abandoned her and her mother to play with a band and start a music career. So she put it out of her mind. Yet, at times she wondered what her journey would have been like if she had both mom and dad. She got through it by spending countless hours making clothes for dolls and for her teddy bears. In addition she would paint the field outside of her window and then play the piano. She was very good at playing the piano her favorite was Chopin's Minute Waltz. Rebekah would listen to his work while growing up for hours. Such a talented musician she was sent off to music school to perfect her talent. Rebekah off at music school fitted in rather nicely with all of her new friends she met which made her feel so happy. Then one day a call came for Rebekah. She was told her mother was killed in a fire and the house she lived in burned down to the ground. All her things was gone her paintings and her creative works. Suddenly, she froze and dropped the phone and no longer could speak and fainted. When she woke up it was found she lost her speech and her ability to hear music. Just muffled sounds would play in her head she could hear people speaking and other sounds but music she could not hear. The doctors was called from around the world to examine her they had never heard of a selective hearing disorder of not being able to hear music. It was determined it was mentally caused by the trauma of the loss of her mother and home. She would sit rocking and sometimes one tear rolled down her right eye. Clearly, slipping into deep depression she was committed into a mental health hospital.
Years went by and Rebekah grew up in a mental hospital rocking away endlessly in an old hospital rocking chair. Nurses and doctors would pass by her room even asking if she wanted to come out and go to activities. All Rebekah would do is get out of bed and rock in the rocking chair and stare for hours into the night sky out of the window. Then one day a specialist came to see her. He walked in an pulled a chair in front of her and grabbed each side of the rocking chair and stopped her from rocking. She turned her head from looking out of the window and looked at him. Doctor Pepton grabbed her hand and said, "Rebekah I am hear to tell you some great news you are completely better and healed as of this moment. I will help you to understand how to accept your healing and reject your sickness. This is our journey together we will work on beginning today!" He start to smile at her and stood up and picked her up out of the chair carrying her into the activities room. When he walked in with her in his arms the people in the room began to gasps.
He walked in the middle of the activities room with her and said, "Everyone this is Rebekah and she will be joining you today. I just diagnosed her as healed so she is starting her first day proving she is better and ready to be released soon. To my colleagues I am ashamed this child grew up in this condition and we as a medical community did not do more. Enough!" He put her down in front of everyone. He told her to shake everyone hand and smile back at them in the room. He began taking her around to each person and doctors and she smiled and shook their hand. Once she finished he said, "Now this shows she is not anti-social and will do for today's participation." He said, "I am ordering her medication dosage be lowered by 1%." They gasped and said, "Your mad the medical board will hear about this one!" as one doctor stormed out. Another doctor and one of his friends patted him on the shoulder and said, "I hope you know what you are doing."
Rebekah went and sat in a chair and turned on the TV. Her normal doctor said, "Wow! she's never done that before. This is working okay Dr. Pepton we will allow you to proceed further." He had work with Rebekah for weeks then he got permission to take her to the Circus. He took her to see the lions. He said, "Rebekah can you growl like the lions go on try." She quickly shook her head no. He said, "Come on! Growl like the lions and I will let you touch one." She began to growl! Making noise for the first time. She patted the lion and started smiling back at him. The next day he had her stand on a chair. He brought in puppies that was barking. He said, "Now bark back at them as loud as you can." She began to bark back at them. He said, "You can have one if you can say dog? She just picked up the puppy but would not speak but just bark and saying,"woof!" "woof!" He walked out the room putting his head down. Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Rebekah. She opened her mouth and said, "Dog!" His eyes opened wide and he said, "Say it again child!" She said it again, "Dog!" Then again, she said, "Dog!" "Dog!"
He pick her up and swung her around. It was a long journey getting to hear her speak but it was worth it he told the medical staff. He had them bring in a piano into the activities room where the other medical patients would be. It was 2 A.M in the morning and he begin to play Chopin's Minute Waltz hoping to wake her. Like a sleeping beauty she slept until the kiss of the sweet sound of music rang in her ear. She sat up and then went to find where this wonderful music was coming from. She wandered into the activities room and found Dr. Pepton. He waved to her to sit down at the piano. Knowing she had been cured and could hear him playing. Crying he placed her hand on the white keys and helped her punch the keys. Then she began to play herself she knew Chopin well it had be one of her fathers favorite songs her mother had told her.
He said, "Like you my dear this song is timeless. It's one of my favorites." Rebekah said, "It was my dad's favorite as well." He sat next to her grabbing her hand Rebekah I am your father. She stopped playing and fainted. The medical staff rushed her to her room the doctors pushed him away. One of the doctors said, "Now see what you've done you have put too much on her. You may have just destroyed the progress she made." He yelled and said, "The progress I and her made!" He threw his hands up and stormed out the hospital. Rebekah woke up the next day. She got up and started looking around the hospital she didn't see him. She started screaming, "daddy!" "daddy!" The nurses grabbed her and started her back to her room. Dr. Pepton walked in and heard her screaming and ran to her. He said, "Let her go!" He grabbed her and said, "Darling are you okay I was so worried." She grabbed him and said, "Don't ever leave me again." "Your okay!" he said.
"Yes, I want to leave this place" she said. "Well, do you want to come live with me?" he said. "Yes, I loved to!" she said. Crying she said, "I had prayed as a child you and I would reunite and it's happening. It's a miracle!" "Go pack your things!" said Dr. Pepton. He went and sat down on the piano and began to play Chopin song again. She walked in with her bags in her hand. "Well, are you ready to begin your journey together with dad?" "Yep!" he said quickly. He got up! Putting his arms around her he grabbed her bag and they walked out the door. While, he whistled Chopin's Minute Waltz.......As they began their timeless journey!
The End!
