A Strong Friendship

Kami Mian had a deep love for animals. He had a pet cat who was very dear to him. She was a beautiful white cat with soft, silky fur, and Kami Mian adored her endlessly. He pampered her so much that she slowly became proud of herself. Feeling special and favored, the cat began to believe she was superior to everyone else.

One day, Kami Mian went on a trip to the forest with his friends. While exploring the greenery, they came across a small, innocent-looking rabbit. The rabbit was gentle and adorable. Being an animal lover, Kami Mian could not resist and brought the rabbit home. He began caring for the rabbit with great affection.

When the cat saw this, jealousy ignited within her. Watching Kami Mian play with the rabbit and shower him with love made her blood boil. She compared herself to the rabbit in her mind and thought angrily, “Is his color whiter than mine? Are his fur and appearance softer and prettier than me?” No matter how much she tried to convince herself, jealousy had already taken hold of her heart.

Whenever Kami Mian left the house, the cat would seize the opportunity. She would growl loudly at the poor rabbit and attempt to attack him with her sharp claws. Terrified, the rabbit would hide in corners to save his life. His tiny heart would tremble with fear, and he lived in constant anxiety because of the cat’s cruel behavior.

One day, during the peak of summer, the heat was unbearable. After lunch, everyone in the house had gone to their rooms to rest. The rabbit, frightened of the cat, hid himself among old household items on the raised platform in the courtyard. Meanwhile, the cat lay comfortably in the courtyard, enjoying her rest. The atmosphere was completely silent.

Suddenly, the courtyard gate that opened into the street swung open with a loud noise. A large, strong black dog entered the courtyard, panting heavily with his red tongue hanging out due to the heat. The cat jolted awake, and the moment she saw the dog, terror filled her soul.

The dog noticed the cat and slowly began moving toward her. The cat let out a weak cry of fear. The rabbit, who was resting on the raised platform, opened his eyes and looked down. Seeing the entire scene, his little heart nearly stopped. The dog growled as he moved closer to the cat.

For a brief moment, the rabbit thought, “Perhaps this is good. Today, the cat will finally face the consequences of her cruelty. She was always jealous of me and disturbed my peace.” But then his kind nature spoke to him. He realized that despite everything, the cat was still his companion. Helping her was the right thing to do.

Determined to act, the rabbit looked around and noticed an empty flour container nearby. Gathering all his strength, he pushed the container off the platform. It fell down with a loud crashing sound and landed directly on the dog. Startled and frightened by the sudden attack, the dog panicked and ran away as fast as he could.

The cat looked up and saw the rabbit sitting on the platform. She was overwhelmed with shame. She realized how badly she had treated him. Filled with regret, she sincerely apologized to the rabbit for her cruel behavior.

From that day onward, the cat and the rabbit became true friends. The cat’s arrogance disappeared, and kindness replaced jealousy. Their strong friendship became a lesson that jealousy destroys relationships, while kindness and forgiveness build bonds that last.
