A Skeleton Fell Out of the Hanging Tree
A Creepy Micro-Fiction
Once, a thief was hung from the hanging tree.
It wasn’t clean; he suffered long. There, they left him.
His corpse rotted. But still they left his body.
A storm raged through - after which, he was gone.
Some thought the storm washed him away - but not all.
Others claimed the local coven practiced dark teachings; they revived him.
‘Twas said he stole again, forever destined to collect tributes.
He sought the young and elderly; no longer so spry.
At least that was the story told to us children…
…Until the day the skeleton fell from the hanging tree.
About the Creator
Megan Baker (Left Vocal in 2023)
A fun spin on her last name, Baker enjoyed creating "Baker's Dozen" lists for various topics! She also wrote candidly about her mental health & a LOT of fiction. Discontinued writing on Vocal in 2023 as Vocal is a fruitless venture.
