Carla couldn't stop trembling. Did they really pull it off? Her nerves were getting the best of her and she had a lump in her throat that she just couldn't swallow. They needed to do this, there was no other way for them to fix things.

She pulled up to a house and carefully grabbed a box in her passenger seat, rushing in just after another figure.

"Anyone follow you?" The figure asked as they turned on the light.

"No, I'm safe. And you, James?" She asked, and James shook his head.

"You got the goods?" He asked.

Carla motioned to the box, which seemed to be moving. The two exchanged nods and James moved closer to open the box slowly. A puppy jumped up immediately, followed by three others.

"Safe and sound," Carla smiled. There had been gossip in their area about a guy who had been known to terribly mistreat his animals. His current dog had puppies and James and Carla weren't going to allow them to be another horror story.

James smiled and removed the petite teacup breed mother from under his coat. She was happy to be anywhere safe, but even happier to see her puppies.
