A Great Steal Gone Wrong

Was it worth it?

By Janis E.Published 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

“Hurry up, Opal,” Charlie whispered. Attempting to pry open a glass container as sweat rolled down his face.

“I’m trying but this container won’t budge. Pass me the screw driver,” demanded Opal.

“I really hope this is worth it,” Charlie said, finally managing to open the container.

“Of course it is, Charles. You don’t think your beautiful wife deserves the best? I mean, look at all this jewelry!” Opal screeched from excitement.

A loud thump startled Charlie. “What was that?”

They paused for a moment. Silence.

“It was nothing, keep going,” urged Opal.

Another loud thump made Opal grab the gun from the counter.

“Freeze!” said a loud deep voice from a dark back room. “Place the gun down and put your hands up!”

Opal held tightly onto the gun, pointing it towards the back room.

“Opal, put the gun down,” said Charlie.

The once badly-lit room was now fully exposed to cop lights shining through the windows.

“I’m not going to jail. Charles, grab the gun!” Opal threw the gun to Charlie.

“Opal, no!”

BOOM!

Blurred vision and a loud high pitch noise stunned Charlie.

“Bonnie shot Clyde!” the deep voice echoed in Charlie’s head before he blacked out.
