A Gorgeous Day for a Trip Out to Barrigan's Reef

“Do you think we will be back in time for dinner? The weather looks pretty good?” asked Sandra.
“You don’t need to worry about dinner at the moment,” replied Mark, loading the drinks Eskie onto the boat.
“I’m so grateful to you for doing this, Mark; I know you don't get it.”
“Whatever makes you happy. If this helps you come to terms with the loss of Brian, and we can move on with our lives, it will be worth it,” he replied.
“Ready to shove off? “asked the captain.
“Let’s go,” said Mark. “We will sit back here until we get out to Barrigan Reef. It is such a lovely day.”
Sandra was married to Brian for ten years. Six months ago, she started an affair with Mark, Brian’s best friend. It had been difficult to sneak around, but to her knowledge, Brian knew nothing of it right up until his death.
Mark had taught Brian to scuba dive. He loved it, and they had been on several trips. Brian had talked about getting a boat with some of the $3 million he had inherited from a rich uncle.
Lost at sea in a driving accident on a trip with Mark to Barrigan Reef, Brian's body was never found. Sandra had promised to bury the ashes of Brian's first dog "Raffie" with him when he died. She felt that if she scattered the ashes over the reef, she would forgive herself for what she had done. Mark had taken the death of his best friend remarkably well.
She felt free. Maybe because she would inherit Brian’s money, maybe it was Mark.
An hour later, they arrived at the reef.
“Let’s get this done,” said Brian impatiently.
Sandra went into the cabin and retrieved Raffie’s ashes. “I just want this over with. I hope you appreciate this, Brian,” she muttered.
She turned around and let out a loud scream, dropping Raffie's ashes all over the floor.
Standing at the back of the boat was a man with a gun held to Mark’s head.
“That is no way to treat the ashes of the dead, you miserable bitch!” said the man.
“I don’t want to hear a word out of either of you.”
“Larry, get the rope and those weights over here,” motioning to the captain.
"Look, this is all a mistake; let me explain,” pleaded Mark who was rewarded with a whack over the head with the gun. He dropped to the floor of the boat.
“Tie him up first, Larry.”
“Brian, …” Sandra started but was cut off.
“I’m meant to be dead?”
"No, my dear, you and your bastard boyfriend are the ones who are dead. He thought he had the perfect plan to cut my air hose while diving."
"I don’t need to give you any explanation." kicking the unconscious Mark in the chest.
"Now you and Mark can be together forever, at the bottom of the sea. No more sneaking around."
“Tie her up with the weights.”
