Rose’s eyes lit up the moment she saw Amy walk into the bar. “Girl, finally! I was about to order without you,” she teased, sipping on a mimosa.
Amy laughed and slid into the booth, but not before introducing Fiona. “Rose, this is Fiona. I just met her outside. Doesn’t she look like Rihanna?”
Rose tilted her sunglasses down and gave Fiona a slow look. “Well damn. She really does. Nice to meet you, Fiona.”
Fiona smiled, her voice smooth as honey. “Nice to meet you, too. Thanks for letting me crash brunch.”
Amy ordered herself a mimosa and leaned back, watching the two women chat. She was feeling bold today, like the universe was pushing her into new experiences. Something about Fiona’s presence gave her a spark, the kind she hadn’t felt in a while.
“So, Fiona,” Amy asked, twirling her straw, “what do you do for fun around here?”
“I’m a photographer,” Fiona said, her eyes catching the light. “Mostly fashion and lifestyle shoots, but I’m trying to branch into more creative projects. Napa’s beautiful, but sometimes it feels small. You know?”
Amy nodded. “Tell me about it. I’ve been thinking the same thing lately—like I need to do something different, something bigger.”
Rose leaned in. “Amy, you’ve been saying that for weeks. Maybe this is your sign. Meet a new person, try something new, shake things up.”
Amy rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t stop smiling. Rose was right. She had been craving a change. Shopping, brunches, dates with Mark—it was fun, but it wasn’t fulfilling.
They ordered food—eggs benedict for Amy, avocado toast for Rose, and Fiona went for pancakes loaded with fruit. Conversation flowed easily, and by the second round of drinks, Amy felt like she had known Fiona longer than just thirty minutes.
Fiona leaned closer. “You know, Amy, you have a really strong look. Ever thought about modeling? Nothing crazy—just lifestyle shoots. I think you’d be perfect for it.”
Amy laughed, almost choking on her mimosa. “Me? Modeling?”
“Why not?” Fiona shrugged. “You’ve got the style, the confidence, the presence. I could show you some of my work, if you’re interested. No pressure.”
Rose smirked. “Look at you, Miss Rihanna over here, scouting my girl.”
But Amy couldn’t deny the excitement building in her chest. Modeling wasn’t something she had ever thought seriously about, but the idea of it thrilled her. Maybe this was exactly the kind of “different” she’d been waiting for.
After brunch, they walked outside together. The sun was bright, and Amy slipped on her shades. Fiona hugged both women goodbye, promising to text Amy later.
Once Fiona was gone, Rose turned to Amy, grinning. “Girl, if you don’t call her tonight, I swear…”
Amy laughed, shaking her head. “It’s not like that. She’s just… interesting.”
“Interesting enough to make you light up like that,” Rose teased.
Amy waved her off, but inside, she knew Rose was right. Something about Fiona stirred her, something new and magnetic. Between Fiona’s world of photography and Mark’s steady presence in her life, Amy suddenly felt like doors were opening—doors she didn’t even know existed.
Driving home later with Max waiting at the condo, Amy thought about Fiona’s words. Modeling. Doing something bigger. Changing her life.
For the first time in a long time, Amy felt a rush of excitement—not just for the day, but for what might come next.
