It was another day of the same routine. An early morning rise and kids to feed. Time to shower, dress and get them off to school. While they're being educated she had so much to do.
She couldn't shake the residue of the dream she had the night before. It was too vivid for her mind not to keep stored. Her subconscious gave her the story she'd always been looking for.
She was standing in line at the coffee shop. Anxious for her morning score. It was like no matter where she went, her mind kept going back for more. This dream brought feelings she'd never experienced before.
After years alone and a set routine, it was hard to grasp the idea of this dream. It was so intriguing. Things like being swept off her feet were always a foolish belief. There had to be consistency for growth. There had to be trust built before she would ever move with ease.
911 by Teddy Swims plays loudly while driving down the street. She'd see his handsome face in every set of eyes that hers would meet. Normally music was a good distraction for her wandering mind, but this dreamy man had her tactics in defeat.
A strongly defined face structure, eyes brown and so deep. The remembrance of one look made her heart skip a beat. The way he looked at her so embedded in her memory that her forehead had started to bead.
Those arms, sheesh. As a plus sized woman it was hard to not have certain insecurities. This dreamy man picked her right up off her feet. The way he held her so close and secure, it gave her this feeling of something she had never felt before. Safety.
Sitting at a stop light that turns green. The car behind her honks to remind her what it means. She starts to self talk, "Get your head out the clouds. Come on, Carrie-Lee." Nope. That just wasn't happening.
Circling her mind for hours now was his handsome face and gorgeous physique. A smile a woman would die for, damn did he ever make her weak. Strong and independent was a great description of her. She promised nothing of a man would again make her meek.
She had once fallen in love with a man a million miles away. Not one opportunity to touch him, yet her heart he would keep. Her whole life, even in a marriage, she felt lonely and misunderstood. Only for this man to come along and apply effort and energy. He made her feel seen.
Into her soul, this man did creep. Like blood through her veins, he moved through her with every heartbeat. It had been years for them to actually speak. Of her life's crazy puzzle, he would always be the missing piece.
"Is that everything?" asked the bank teller, handing over her receipt. "Yes dear, thank you" she responded and then out the door she proceeded.
Coming through at the same time from outside was a man who looked just like him. She stopped and stared into his eyes until there was awareness. Tall dark handsome and yes, she melted. Half way through a day and still stuck on a man in a dream.
Respected, loved, understood, secure, cared for and an overload of sweetness. These are things this woman ached for. Intelligent, funny, thoughtful, spontaneous, strong, passionate, romantic, brave, bold and kind. Of course a man like this wouldn't leave her mind. Her history with men was nothing but abuse, heartache, sadness and lies. The relationship always in demise.
This brought tears to her eyes.
She asked, "Dear God, why?"
To love and be loved.
Her only desire.
We so often forget that we are only promised the moment we are in. We become careless and absent minded. She had herself so caught up in emotion she became blinded. She took a turn too soon and with another car, she collided.
She came out of the seat and hit the windshield. Her heart racing and her breathing labored. As she fades, all she can do now is think of her three beautiful children.
"911, what's your emergency?"
"There's been an accident on River's lane."
